I found the issue.. it appears zoneminder was trying to start up twice in the runlevel 3 init sequence.. I killed the second script and now ZM is running and doing its normal thing.. not sure what caused it to get in there twice but it surely made a mess of things when it did.... im running fedora ...

My zonemoder system filled up its disk space to the point that the MySQL server crashed and was not running.. at that point i rebooted the system, deleted some files , rebooted again, this time ZM and the Mysql started up normally. I let the zmaudit process delete all the events out of the database ...

when you say run console you mean log into the web interface? my ZM machine does not have X installed on it so I am loging in remotely.. and I still get the flood.. although it just fills up the available ram and I never see it go to more than 52k byyes on the swap and it doesnt seem to slow down ...
