But I'm back :-) I've been trying over and over again to get the arduino on the road ,but this turned into a project on it's own. On the guidance of a new collegue of mine , I've stumbled upon this nice gizmo : http ...

Based on article I've read today in CT magazine. It seems to be possible to setup a master/slave combination for mysql. If this should work ,that would actually mean that playing around with backup sets IS possible. (combining this way of working with LVM snaphots on hot pluggable disks, or using ...

This is why I made feature request : Freeze , Pause for overall ZM engine
http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11879
Only this would enable one to do a restorable backup of the database without shutting ZM down.

Freeze , Pause for overall ZM engine
A nice thing to have would be : ... Freeze , Pause for overall ZM engine ... The purpose to have this ,would be that some functionalities would still be possible , but not writing into the database . This in order to get a lock on the tables so a quick backup of the whole db can be taken (trough LVM ...

Discovered a better one : gammu !
More activity on the development scene ,and more different phones supported.
If it doesn't work with gnokii ,try with gammu
apt-get install gammu
or install it from source
wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/u ... rig.tar.gz

You need to write safer shutdownscript with checking mechanisms (do process checks before doiing full shutdown). Also work with hardwaretools enabling to do proper remote control (even before OS) => network KVM switch ! example : http://www.freedom9.com/products/product.php?p=9 Warning : Those don't ...

I read in another thread in this forum that the biggest problem on performance is disk IO. This turns me to a RAID 0+1 solution (spanning ,which is mirrored). But I still wanted this to have in an internal or external box ,which is managed by it's internal firmware. (so no drivers needed). So on top ...

External IDE/SATA/SCSI Raid box ?
Hi, Does someone knows a box with 2 physical drives inside that work in RAID1 and can be connected in IDE/SATA or SCSI to a pc. The 2 drives however have to be able to be hot pluggable ,so that the drives can be removed as a means of system backup. One box I already found is here : http://www ...
