Sorry, i don't know why you get those errors.
I installed the same ffmpeg version on Slackware 12.0 and it didn't get any errors.
Try neouser's advice and let us know if it works

I had the same problem.
I solved it by installing an older version of ffmpeg. I found it on sourceforge, at the motion project.
