I've managed to get it installing manually and ignoring the MPEG streaming errors. Console works but video doesn't - permissions on apache I think. I'd already tweaked apache for other apps so think that is why but ran out of time to resolve last night. On Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10), I've had to chmod 666 ...

What did you pick for mode and resolution? Try switching between PAL and NTSC and various resolutions.

In case anyone cares, I was able to get this built and working on Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10). Still playing/testing, but have it working with both a local and remote camera.
