Re: KMC4400R 4 chip - 16 input card problems getting to came
God it's been a long time ... but on that version of the card I believe you are correct. I do remember that they didn't seem to be in a logical order; we discovered by poking around the ports with a couple of cameras. Trial and error, more error than success until we finally got it. I believe there ...

You're using just the first port off of each channel on the card. The card has four channels (chips) with four ports each. Try setting up for EIGHT cameras and only connect / activate six. Use the chart from the first page of this topic. Something like /dev/video0 0 /dev/video0 1 /dev/video1 2 /dev ...

I has not find (but has not spend time looking howto) the way to remaster excluding the subdirectories that keep the events. Similarly, I'd like to know how to 'retain' the modprobe.conf file after remaster - during install the file is overwritten. I'd like to have my live cd's for each piece of ...

On this particular project, it would be great to have a step-by-step guide, for doing this. I put up a skeleton some time ago for this purpose - http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/ZMLiveCD_2008_Production It needs to be edited by each of you who are actually following a process, that way we ...

Lower load after event review?
Thi is kind of a strange issue, not really a 'problem' but perplexes me nonetheless. ZMLiveCD 2007 upgraded to 1.23.2 on an AMD 2000 system, 'pico' four port bt card, 750 mb ram 300 gb hd, radeon 9200... Startup and load montage - green scale in the taskbar load meter is MAX'd ... close montage, get ...

I find the same issue but in Windows the 'Diginet' software that comes with the KMC4400r it indeed gets 7 fps from four inputs to one bt chip. How is it that windoze can do better frame rate than linux?? I thought some of the reduction is from the frame analysis that ZM does and Diginet does not. I ...

I have several live systems in the field and most are stable to the hilt using the LiveCD based on Mandriva 2007. The jumpy video (image seems to pop up n down in the screen) is due to low signal voltage - a passive balun solves this every time. For long cat5 runs an active balun is better on the ...

Production Wiki
OK I've created the skeleton for a Production Wiki here -
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... Production
I'll be happy to keep this clean and concise but I'll need you guys to make it accurate. My starting skeleton may not be proper so please feel free to correct it!

Should we have a list of work required on the wiki so poeple can pick parts to do? I think so! I've started a wiki for that purpose. See http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php?title=ZMLiveCD_2008_Requirements Someone please edit this to make sense - I stuck a few things up there but by no means ...

Watch for leaks?
Heads up to anyone who has followed my wiki on MDV 2008 and 1.23.1 - I'm experiencing lockups with a few systems after being in the field a few weeks. The 2007 based LiveCD (Again, the most stable ever!) are all running strong. I suspect there is a versioning issue, but I haven't dug in, all I did ...

Tracy (technicavolous) I vote for you to lead the documentation effort. What I believe is the greatest need is help for the end user of the system. The pclos installation help is pretty good. (And looks suspiciously similar to the installation help from my recent ZMliveCD :) ) Thank you! I tried to ...

BTW I keep meaning to comment on your posts regarding mondo rescue. So far Mondo has been a savior - it works wonderfully with MDV 2008. Haven't tried PCLOS, but I've successfully restored several test systems here and now it's standard op for me to do a Mondo backup *after* I've set all the client ...
