It could be Apache, but I only just built the zm on Ubuntu 7.10, and obviously got the latest Apache. Apache is so widely used I would be surprised if it was allowed to have a memory leak for long. I used a little program to monitor the memory leak, it displays it on screen and writes it to a log fi...

Thanks for the information about authentication breaking the picture. I just built a system the same as you with Ubuntu 7.10. It seemed to be working (albeit with a memory leak) then I could not show the images. (Picture of a broken link). I was about to try and buy a CCTV appliance. You have restor...

Video Baluns should be more reliable than Media converters as they are passive - just a matching transformer with appropriate BNC / RJ45 and Power connectors. The URL: http://www.eql.com.au/cctvbalun.htm gives a graph of volt drop over distance of Cat 5 for several different camera power consumption...

A Video Balun is just a matching transformer with appropriate BNC / RJ45 and Power connectors, if it provides power, it is not strictly just a video Balun. The URL: http://www.eql.com.au/cctvbalun.htm gives a graph of volt drop over distance of Cat 5 for several different camera power consumptions. ...

Hi, I tried the dmesg command, it does look like the PV149 card has detected the card OK and set each chip to 98. If mod probe is not the area I should be looking at, any Ideas where I should be looking? I am worried that it might be videoforlinux configuration, but I looked for documentation on thi...

PoE cameras either have cheap optics or cost a fortune. You might want to look at Video Baluns, quality analogue cameras and analogue video input card in the PC. You can then power the camera and get the video back using Cat 5 rather than Co-ax. The Cat 5 has better performance than Co-ax so goes fu...

Thanks Lee and aot2002 for your interest and replies. When I try to display the picture in zoneminder under ubuntu, I get a white square, in it an icon indicating a broken link to the picture. I tried sudo modprobe bttv card=98,98,98,98 which did not error, but did not seem to help much. I tried the...
