Running Ubuntu Hardy, and had lots of difficulty getting my IP PTZ camera control working. This pointed me in the right direction. For anyone else experiencing this error (Can't bind: Address already in use), here is the command to correct the permissions in Debian based distros only . The filename ...

I just thought that it might be a way to have a solid interface for searching .archiving and dumping to dvd / cd. perhaps just a remote? I haven't tried it with the latest version of ZM, but check out MythZoneMinder in conjunction with MythTV: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MythZoneMinder It ...

I'm on the east coast, but took a trip to Cali many years ago. I'd suggest visiting the redwood forest while your there, its an experience.

USB Missile Launcher

What if an intruder tries to steal your ZM server while your away? This could be an annoying deterrent  Provided someone figures out the protocols and how to use ZM's motion tracking to aim the thing.

Thanks for your reply, I experimented with using the file monitor type to watch a file created by the camera via FTP, but it seems its limited to 1 FPS. CPU usage was also considerably higher (using nodetect). ZMC consumed 30% CPU when monitoring a single file (at 10 FPS), where as a 'remote' stream ...

New source type for monitors - FTP

Taking full advantage of various IP camera's capabilities, it would be great if ZM could create events for batches of frames uploaded to a ZoneMinderFTP server. For example: -Under Add New Monitor, selecting source type of FTP displays a new tab to setup the cameras incoming login/event creation ...

Re: Video Generation Failed!

Most likely, this error raise when the location for the log file produced along with the video (ffmpeg.log) is not writable. This expecially if you can't fint a ffmpeg.log Check in zmvideo.pl and change ">& ffmpeg.log" to "&> /tmp/ffmpeg.log" and see what happens Roberto This suggestion also fixed ...

The camera showed up today, to my surprise. I was able to quickly get it working with ZM using the standard methods. Even the presets on the control page worked well using the Panasonic IP protocol. One of the more interesting features it offers is the ability to use HTTP triggers for different on ...

audio will be a problem Thanks for pointing this out. After browsing around the forum I see that audio isn't supported yet. It would be great have the ability to trigger events based on audio level thresholds, or at least listen to audio while viewing live feeds. I hope to see this capability in ...

I went ahead and ordered the camera. Amazons $199 price jumped to $265 overnight :( So I ordered it from newegg for $239. Whenever it shows up, i'll test it out with ZM and report back. In the mean time if you have any tips to using this particular IP cam with ZM beyond whats mentioned on the forum ...

Panasonic BL-C131A Support?

I'm about to purchase a Panasonic BL-C131A, and wanted to see if any one has had success using this model's PTZ features with ZM. I saw in the wiki that the following are supported: Panasonic BL-C1, BLC-10, BL-C20, KX-HCM10 etc (including PTZ support) The BL-C131A can be found for as little as $199 ...
