It seems worth pointing out here that the general opinion about load on a linux box on current-generation Intel Hardware is that you can afford about two processes per core before things start to get out of hand.
So on my quad core i7, I can afford a load average of 8 as a reasonable standard number.

Re: CPU util
26 cameras over IP at 15fps 1080p is a pretty impressive load; it's like 6-8 times the load on my machine (12 IP cams, 6fps 720p on a 4-core i7 with 32G of ram, and my load average idles at 5 in modect, up around 8 in Montage Review). Putting all of that on one machine is going to require some horse...

Re: filter not working
yeah, right. and if everything worked as it should no post would be seen here :) based on what you said about your system you're not just testing it. 1.36 has tons of bugs, so I think 1.34 should still be used in production environment. It does? I had a teeny problem getting the 1.36.5 PPA upgrade ...

Re: How to view cameras
To answer your fundamental question, though, use Montage Review to look at your cameras/monitors.
And consider whether you need to use the full capabilities of the cameras. Mine are 4MP, but I run them at 720p/6fps, and it works out just fine for us.

Re: Brand New to Zoneminder 1.36.5
In case you haven't gotten that far yet, once your monitors are running, you'll probably want to use Montage Review, rather than Montage, to look at them; I find it much more tractable. Now, that said, yes, you absolutely should be able to get it to just pull images from the cameras, even if it does...

Camera: PTZo PTX-20-SDI works, but won't MODECT
This is a 3 or 4 year old running system with 11 Hikvision/Trendnet 314's that work and record fine, just upgraded to ... whatever's new in the PPA for U18.04 [ edit: It's running 1.36.5 ] -- I didn't upgrade to 20.04 on purpose, but don't remember why just now. Anyways, I finally got all the settin...

Marked-spot change scan
It seems like it might be handy -- if it's not already possible -- for a user to go to an event where an object is in view, for example, a laptop is lying on a desk, and interactively mark that spot and then tell ZM to search forward until that spot changes markedly -- as in the case where someone p...

Re: zmNinja Old Versions
The only really safe solution to this is to fork when you have to introduce a compatibility-break; create a new separate app called, frex, "zmNinja 2.2", and then put new updates into that. If you're really nice, you'll backport security fixes... :-) This may introduce it's own problems; I...

Re: ZM with Docker : Change Video Storage Volume
Gotcha.
The thing you need an answer to is a Docker question, and I'm not (yet, at least) a Docker guy; hopefully one will wander along.

Re: ZM with Docker : Change Video Storage Volume
Is your separate storage volume visible inside the container, and how did you make that be so?

Re: zmNinja Old Versions
Correct -- while it's a bit obscure, you can disable autoupdates for a single app in the Play Store App. Go to Hamburger Menu -> My Apps -> Installed [tab] and pick the app. Then drop the three-dots menu in the top right corner, and uncheck "Enable auto update". You can probably do it from...

In fact, it appears applying that patch to 1.32.3 makes it ...
Oh goodie.
Not only can't I load MR anymore, I don't even seem to be able to load the console, even after backing the patch out.

Nope, there's the console.
Hmmm...
