I have 2GB of memory. We've looked into xlib_shm, but the people wont use it, opting for the slightly glitzier web interface instead. Here's a stability update: It went a few days without crashing so i changed all the zones to 'high sensitivity, best'. The good news is its been a few hours with no ...

Lots of complaints but short on information. Sorry about that. Even though I couldn't ssh in, there was some info I could have given, but left out. 1) It sounds like this computer is doing other things. ZoneMinder is very IO intensive, and shared duty is NOT recomended. I am using it with KDE to ...

To address overruns you have 3 options: 1) lower the monitor FPS. 2) reduce the monitor zone complexity (e.g use alarm pixels instead of blobs). 3) increase your monitor's image buffer size (found under the 'Buffers' tab in the monitor settings screen). The best way to address overruns is option #3 ...

ZM administraive problems: Overruns and Crashing Server

First of all, I'd like to thank the writers of this program. Despite the headaches its causing me, I'm sure it does a lot of good for other people in the community. The first thing I noticed was that Modect mode was unreliable. No matter how much fiddling I did, the detection was either far too ...

[SOLVED] broken authentication

SOLVED: I switched to remote authentication, and plain login, and i was able get in, but again no video streams were working. I switched authentication to none, and now its working again. For now, im happy :) *************************************************** I ran into some bug which prevented me ...

alarm scores strangely high. reduced by restarting zm

I was having a heck of a time with my motion detect sensitivity. It seemed that it was either too sensitive, or missing everything. I'm starting to notice that it actually works fine, until there is an alarm. Given enough time, all my monitors will go into a perpetual alarm state, even if the lights ...

Solved?

I lowered the FPS/Alarm FPS to 3 on all feeds, and set up a duplicate just for viewing. Then, I have an 'All' group, a 'Record' group, and a 'View' group. I left my 'Record' group in 'Mocord' mode, and set up a filter to periodically go through and delete events with no action. Does anyone see a ...

Whoops! Looks like I spoke too soon. As James Wilson points out, when an Alarm Event happens, ZM will go back to grabbing at the Max Alarm FPS, and ignore Frame Skip. My video is very smooth, so the original thread is still solved, and I just made another thread specifically regarding the view ...

PV-183

I'm new to this as well but here is how I understand it: The PV-149 comes with 4 bt878(a?) chips. Each chip is capable of (NTSC) 30fps @ 640x480, but if you have more than 4 feeds you're gonna quickly meet the law of diminishing returns on at least on of those chips. 4chips * 30fps = 120 total fps ...

Want to View@15fps, Record@3fps, & Dtect Motion

I thought i had this working but there is a small problem... Bandwidth isnt an issue for me, and I'd like to view at 15fps. Disk Space, on the other hand, is an issue, so I would like to capture at 3fps. It seems every mode has an issue for me. Modect records at 15fps even with Frame Skip, and ...

BT848 doesnt support 'sustained' 640x480

I noticed that my 8 chip card was advertised as 240fps / 8 chips @ 320x240. I assumed I would be able to do around 7fps at 640x480, but when I contacted the manufacturer about it, he said that the card didnt support 640x480 for 'sustained periods'. I know that other bt848-based cards claim they can ...

cordel, thanks again. you've been a huge help. The Alarm Max FPS option must have been too obviously near the Max FPS option.

I also forgot to point out that ZM is not at all choppy when in high bandwidth mode, and set up correctly.

I think its important to point out for anyone investigating ZM that my load isnt around 2.0 on my Q6600 (quad) anymore. Its now more like .02 when viewing 9 streams at 15-20 fps @ 320 x 240, and recording 1/7th of the frames! Turns out that those buffer overruns and abnormally exiting zm-related ...

That makes sense.

As I understand it, you've set up a filter to automatically create a video when you archive an event. You can then export that video, and the event will be protected from the Purge filter.

If I got it wrong, let me know.

Tried some things

My FPS is 20 for every camera, and I'm using a Frame Skip of 7. I found "Reference Image Blend %ge" pretty easily in the Setting->General Tab, and changed that from a default of 7 to 4. Think I should go lower? I'd rather be capturing nothing than missing movement. I also found "Min/Max Pixel ...
