I also forgot to point out that ZM is not at all choppy when in high bandwidth mode, and set up correctly.

I think its important to point out for anyone investigating ZM that my load isnt around 2.0 on my Q6600 (quad) anymore. As I understand it, you've set up a filter to automatically create a video when you archive an event. You can then export that video, and the event will be protected from the Purge filter.
