Re: ZoneMinder 1.25.0 extremely slow to log in et al
I don't think it would help much but maybe some more memory?
Also, I would try and disable the red cameras and the Monitor cameras to see if that helps reduce the load.
and I would take a look at iotop to see if the io is over taxed.

8 as in eight ? I didn't know the OS would even work over 4 have you tried to see what's sucking up all the resources with top ? It sounds like the the memory is all used up and it's swapping, that makes mine crawl to a stop. regular at times things should be identifiable in crontab or your zm ...

Re: Looking for recommendation for inexpensive camera for ZM
1280x1024 and inexpensive ? I guess it will all depend on what you think expensive is? For me $30 is an expensive camera so I get those cheapo Harbor Freight cameras when they are on sale and I have a 20% off coupon.

I have had great luck with these instructions and by far the easiest method of installing zoneminder that I have found
my box is only 32 bit but the guide still works very well

Re: how do I find current run state ?
dunno,
running ubuntu ?
sudo service zoneminder status
but I don't think that will tell you if the cameras are working, guess you would also need to check mysql and apache to see if they are running as well

dunno,
maybe you could turn the user login off and use .htaccess
is it a server install or is zm running on a desktop install?
what's the load on the system?

Re: Zoneminder keeps stopping
my rig is only 4 cams and a 750GB drive with 2GB of memory and 3Ghz Celeron I had some trouble letting the drive fill up to 90% setting it to 75% seemed to help keep it up I have had issues with MySQL and a table corruption. There is a fix in here that worked once but another time I had to reinstall ...

Re: Almost There
maybe you could try and put a usb cam on the box and see if that will give you a stream? you can watch and see if the cam shows up when you plug it in with watch 'ls /dev -al | grep video' -n 5 -d use Ctl-c to quit you need to be careful with hardware selection and linux distros, there are really ...

ftp event upload ?
Greetings ZM friends, I can't seem to figure out how to get ZM to ftp events with a filter. It worked when I tested it but the filter I used has a "date/time of now"
any pointers to how to use the filters, much appreciated
