I recently discovered that mplayer's cubic interpolating deinterlacer (ci) filter works better that the linear blend deinterlacer (lb) filter. There is also a temporal noise reducer (tn) that works well. I get very nice results when combining the ci and tn filters. mplayer some_interlaced_video.avi ...

I found two log files that may hold the clue to solving this problem. Here are excerpts from each file. zmwatch.log 11/13/2008 11:23:24.154042 zmwatch[7609].INF ['zmc -m 2' starting at 08/11/13 11:23:24, pid = 8018] 11/13/2008 11:23:34.156434 zmwatch[7609].ERR [Can't get shared memory id '7a6d0002 ...

Mplayer has some good options for playing interlaced video. I found that the command -vf pp=lb displays the video with interlacing cleaned up nicely. Example: mplayer some_interlaced_video.avi -vf pp=lb Using Mencoder, one can re-encode the video while deinterlacing it. More details can be found ...

No packets sent to IP camera

I have installed ZoneMinder v1.23.3 on Mandriva 2008.0. My camera is a Trendnet TV-IP100 network camera and no password is set so it doesn't require authentication. Zoneminder appears to run properly when accessed at http://127.0.0.1/zm/ through Firefox. I entered the camera's IP address, and set ...

I too am looking for a 4-input USB video adapter. They are easy to find, but not so easy to tell if they are compatible with Linux/ZoneMinder. I may just buy one and try it. I found some on ebay priced at $22 that look just like those at PacificGeek, see here and here.

I have a DCS-950 and it works with Trendnet's IPview Pro software. I can provide a Wireshark packet capture of IPview Pro activating/deactivating the video and audio streams if that would be useful.

Any cameras with motion detection?

I would like a camera that sends images to an ftp server, but only when something moves in the field of view, or IR motion detector has triggered camera. Are there any cameras that detect motion without need to have software running on a PC?

How low should lux rating be for night imaging?

I want to buy a network camera (not necessarily wireless) for use at night. The night images don't have to be color. I am wondering if 2.5 lux is any good at night? With just starlight and moonlight, how low should the lux rating be?

Thanks.
