Is there an http api available?

I noticed a SharedMem.pm (perl module) which is supposedly container for any api like functionality...but I have a tomcat/java application. I basically wanted ability to generate html for thumbnail and full 'detail' views at a minimum...ability to scale image w/be nice. Ability to playback a ...

ZM is captuing empty events after running 20? days straight

Am checking out my server which has been up for several weeks now and noticed that frames capture during event on several cameras is 0/0. Yet I can pull up view for each cam...they are all set to modect...and have been working past few weeks. I am at 4%cpu on quadcore with 8-port bc capture card ...

my configuration to build ffmpeg/zm

For building zm I apparently used the following (configure.mdk...my custom config): ./configure --with-webdir=/var/www/zm --with-cgidir=/usr/lib/cgi-bin ZM_DB_PASS=<dontyouwish> --with-libarch --with-webuser=www-data --with-webgroup=www-data --with-ffmpeg=/usr/local/bin --enable-debug=yes ZM_SSL_LIB ...

Have you rebuilt ffmpeg? What version of zm/ffmpeg are you using?

Trying to compile zm against pre-buit ffmpeg will fail usually I think.

You will have to grab ffmpeg, make edit to single line in rtsp cpp file, rebuild, then build zm.

These steps worked for me on ubuntu 8.10.

hmmm...

Doesn't this contradict another manual reference which says to use "/usr/bin" for ffmpeg? (or whatever dir parent is). I think I used "/usr/local" at first (for handbuilt ffmpeg) and later when I used "/usr/local/bin" the cfg script did seem to pick up more ffmpeg in output. mike

I cannot tell a lie...

I cannot tell a lie... Although lowering this setting helped me immeasurably (it did!) it's not "the fix" to apache issues. I noticed night/day difference between 5 and 15 for keep-alive timeout...but something else can cause apache to be unresponsive (zm?) and it spawns more threads to handle...but ...

enable server-status

enable server-status module and track apache's performance/stats with it. You can also turn "ExtendedStatus On" in apache conf. http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/mod/mod_status.html It isn't zm creating apache instances...apache is doing this. Did you restart apache after changing keepalive?

Mo betta

Much better now... I went to 320x240, 10/30 for monitor/capture and all cameras are on modect instead of mocord. Cpu is infinitely less pegged: top - 16:25:01 up 2:01, 3 users, load average: 0.12, 0.17, 0.14 Tasks: 191 total, 2 running, 189 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 5.5%us, 1.0%sy, 0.0 ...

Processes weren't waiting...that's the problem. They were in 'W' state which means writing to client connection...which has been closed but takes a long time to register. Each open of video in browser from apachehost/zm results in a single apache thread going into W state and not returning quickly ...

Thanks for the tips. If interlaced higher-res is really BS then ok. Analog cameras often suck anyways so I'm dealing with what I paid for ($150/camera roughly). I need to start looking into forensic-quality (license plate/court proof) cameras that ideally have analog and ethernet interfaces...and ...

well...

I'll be happy if I can best the performance of a chinese-make linux-based dvr which cost me $1K approx. No raid option and windows only software but it works tits for the most part. Missing some configurability but pretty much an appliance. I've had it for a year now and not ONCE had to do anything ...
