update to the update =) everything is working swimmingly except for the streaming part. I guess the camera path doesn't matter because there wasn't one loaded on the preset and it doesn't appear to matter. It records perfectly and the stills look great. I just need to figure out how to view a stream ...

update I called supercircuits and spoke with a tech again. He told me this time that those cameras (pc33cipdn-4g) use the ACTI protocols. so..time to scavenge the forums for the acti image path script and i should be good to go.
