I've got the aicn747w working fine, but no PTZ. I've followed the instructions - but I don't get any movement when pressing arrows, even after pressing one of the preset buttons. I looked at the running processes and I don't see a zmcontrol - any trick to making that run? I think that's my issue. Th...

How the heck does one of those little button batteries last a YEAR? It must only snapshot on request, there is no way that battery can last a year while streaming even just 5fps constantly. http://vuezone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/48 Their assumption is based on it being on only 10 minut...

this should be fairly straightforward to make mythzoneminder you have to do 4 things: 1) Install zomeminder 2) Install mythtv 3) Compile the mythzoneminder plugin (./configure --enable-mythzoneminder in plugins folder then make && makei nstall) 4) Start mythzmserver with the mythzmserver co...

I set this up yesterday using the mythzoneminder files from the Ubuntu 9.04 repository: the difficult part was getting the mythzmserver to run because Ubuntu doesn't include any kind of init script to start it automatically. Took about two hours to write an init script that seems to work, and once ...

I'm a newbie to zoneminder, but not to myth. I wrote up some instructions that may help. They are specifically for ubuntu Hardy and 1.23.3, but probably can be modified to work with any distro and maybe even 1.24, provided the plugins work at all with 1.24 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=12...

Depending on the level of playing around you'd like to do, you might be able to make do with various online demos of ip cameras available on the net. Thanks - didn't think of that. I actually just bought a cheap Labtec Webcam pro and an IP Kamera 9000A off of ebay. After I get them, I'm going to tr...

I couldn't tell from the documentation, but does anybody know if this thing is expected to have any audio capabilities? My guess is since I can't find anything on audio with this - that it doesn't have any audio capabilities. Seems interesting though - and aside from the audio would probably suit my...

The Y-Cam works okay, is well featured and is reasonably priced. Axis remain the best, but fail your 'cheap' criteria. Yeah, I need proof of concept first. Maybe I'll try out an Airlink AIC250 - I think I can find one of those cheap. The Y-cam still seems a little pricey to just play around with. O...
