Yes, they did change colour when I tried to select Monitor mode.

However, since I posted, I got a click-of-death in the only hdd in that box, so right now am installing a clean debian on a new disk.

Hi, I am new to ZoneMinder, so am unsure what to expect. I have installed from source on latest stable debian. I have managed to configure an 8-port bt878 card, and get modetect running well on /dev/video0. It detects motion, captures the stills, highlights the changed areas from frame to frame, etc ...
