I am using an avermedia card nv3000 with regular security cameras connected, which have worked before on this system. However it will not work because I have to be able to point to the /dev/video file, which does not exist. I don't see how knowing the above info is going to help, but there it is. I ...

No /dev/video file
I have finished installation, and there is no /dev/video file in my dev directory. There is also no similar file. Did I miss something in the istallaion?

See updates at bottom of page I have installed the nv3000, and it works on all 4 inputs with xawtv on Ubuntu. I simply installed the version that was in the repository for Ubuntu and the card worked.
