ok I followed the instructions. I have zm running. I can run zm from a firefox on another computer. I get the same red source and black screen as when I installed ZoneMinder using synaptic. Gentlemen, I am beginning to think the problem is not Ubuntu - Zoneminder. I think the 'cannot access shared memory' problem is MYSQL or Apache permissions. I am researching in that direction now.
