Reply to self: now is the other way around.
When I joined this forum and for many years and ZM versions, the system was capturing images and the creation of the video was optional. Now looks like the encoding to a video is the default and the options are save the frames or anaylisis images.

Hi! Did you try reinstall ZM totally? I'm tested 1.31.44 (last build) on Ubuntu 16.04.4 and 18.04, both works good. Purge and diskspace filters works correctly. After upgrading my system to the latest & greatest version, the filters page is not shown (just a blank page is opened) and also, it seems they are not working.

Have you checked the ffmpeg is enabled? (I assume it's installed, you could check it with "which ffmpeg", that also returns the path you need to enter in the configuration)
