Just thought I'd post an update to this thread - there is a new update available (v3.1) which seems to fix everything - works with zoneminder flawlessly now at 20fps+ using the url:

/videostream.cgi?usr=admin&pwd=admin

Strange that debian should not see the HDD - it's a pretty mainstream distro and Ubuntu is based on it. What I have done is installed onto an 8G flash key (pretty cheap now days). Works fine if you only want ZM on it (write performance is not amazing)

Had the same problem myself with the binaries on Ubuntu. Gave up and installed debian and built zm from source. Rev 3007 if that helps.

Actually getting the snap is OK for me, rock solid I have it at 6fps which is just good enough I suppose. Still would be nice if MJPEG worked, when it did work it was getting about 18fps.

Maybe a case of getting what you pay for.

I get the same sort of thing - and I've also maxed out the shared memory settings. I have also set the resolution of the cam to 320*240 (which to be honest would be ok with me if it worked) and I've even tried backing off the framerate of the stream from vlc. You can create a filter with the 'upload' box triggered. When you save the filter you can select the option for it to run in the background, which means uploads will occur pretty much when the event happens.

Looks like MJPEG support is coming next week by the announcement on the website.
I guess that in combo with the CGI PT commands makes this cam a 'proper' zoneminder option...

Dave - it did crash in a similar way (don't remember the exact reason so can't say 100%) with Ubuntu Koala and binaries from the Ubuntu repo (i.e all installed with apt). I even got fed up and set up a script to wget the image and set up a file monitor on zm. The results of that were poor of course ...
