I see the same issue on my quad core, 4GB 64bit ubuntu box which is only really used for ZM, file server and mail.

Anyone know if its possible to use chroot to run a 32 bit version?

I have a 32bit jaunty chroot environment on my machine, but not sure if the capture card will work in this case.

I've had all 4 sources running on xawtv for an hour - although I haven't been watching them all the time, I've not noticed any dropout.

This suggests that it's not hardware..

littlej - what OS are you running?

The mplayer on my ubuntu doesn't seem to have tv support.

However, I currently have 4 instances of xawtv running /dev/video0 to /dev/video3. I will leave it running like that for a few hours and see if any crash out.

ok - I think the bad events are a different issue.. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to remove the .deb package, and build from source as per the link above.
