Re: New install on Rocky Linux fails (multiple errors) following RedHat instructions
Okay here's an update: Problem 1: Service startup issue I installed MariaDB server locally, and the ZM service starts now. Also the service file contains: # ZoneMinder systemd unit file for RedHat distros and clones # See drop-in folder for additional config directives [Unit] Description=ZoneMinder ...

New install on Rocky Linux fails (multiple errors) following RedHat instructions
Hello guys, Following the instructions of https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/stable/installationguide/redhat.html I installed ZM on a brand new VM running Rocky Linux 8 (Centos 8 replacement). Install went fine (AFAIK), it can connect to the remote MariaDB database, the web UI loads ...

Re: Upgrade from 1.28 on centos 7 fails with DB upgrade errors
Good catch. I blindly assumed the permissions were OK since I had duplicated the real database in Mysql for testing purposes without making sure the step 2 of the install section was met. Now with the perms all set up I could run the perl update script. Just for my own curiosity, what has changed ...

Upgrade from 1.28 on centos 7 fails with DB upgrade errors
Hello, I had ZM 1.28 running well on a centos 7 VPS, but I decided to perform a system wide yum update and of course zoneminder was upgraded to 1.29. After the system upgrade I rebooted the server and found ZM's webpage issueing the following error:
SQL-ERR 'SQLSTATE[42S02]: Base table or view ...

Re: MariaDB and ZM issues
Hey knnniggett I fully understand your POV. You are right when you say that I like to fiddle with installs but normally when I reach a point where everything runs fine and stable, I leave it alone. This is not the case with ZM because I could never get it to work well with my current hardware which ...

Re: MariaDB and ZM issues
There are actually several issues: Firstly: In my experience ZM was running "decently" on a Centos 6.5 install. This time I had to change some stuff and reinstalled centos 6.5 (because ZM doesnt not support centos 7 yet) then upgraded the distro immediately to 6.6 via yum. I would have expected ZM ...

Re: MariaDB and ZM issues
Ok I managed to dig deeper into this issue: 1. The webinterface crawling to a halt was due to the Logs table being extremely big with more than 108 million entries (20.5GB). I truncated the table and now everything is fine. I also changed the log levels to "Warning" for all four log facilities. I am ...

Re: MariaDB and ZM issues
The main change in 1.28 was switching from the legacy mysql library to the PDO. Perhaps that is causing the issue.
I am sure that I am not the only one to use MariaDB as the backend. Others see this kind of behavior? YOu find that the db logging brings ZM to a crawl? How do you ...

MariaDB and ZM issues
We have a centos 6.6 VM running zm 1.28.0 from the zmrepo packages and installed using the instructions provided by the devs of this project. All seems to have gone well. Now we have noticed that the application (ZM) is not performing as intended. Event playback is severely screwed up (dropped ...

Re: Zoneminder RPM & SRPMS for Red Hat & CentOS 6
Hey knigggett I'lll try what you suggested for the auth hash issue, but in the meantime I had to migrate ZM to a new centos VM and I am having an issue to connect to MySQL.. ZM is now installed on a Centos 6.6 minimal installl and all went fine. I have modified the /etc/zm.conf file as needed to ...

Re: Zoneminder RPM & SRPMS for Red Hat & CentOS 6
hey knnniggett I haven't had a chance yet to test the passphrase issue but will do. In the meantime, do you have an idea what could be causing picture corruption on the stream? (See attached screenshots of the replay events). In a week, almost 600 events were generated and recorded and 585 (roughly ...

Hmmmm I think we're getting somewhere...
Yes it does work! You think something's wrong with some hash libraries?

Re: Zoneminder RPM & SRPMS for Red Hat & CentOS 6
User authentication is responsible for the issue! GO figure, I dunno! I tested 5 or 6 times, enable authentication with Hash secret passphrase, set admin password, restart zoneminder service, and bam! live stream is gone. I deactivate auth, restart zoneminder service, and live stream is back. You ...
