When I try to repair the database I get the following from the MySQL terminal:

"ERROR 1046 (3D000): No database selected"

while trying to sort out the issue regarding the console not being available, I edited the database.php file to change mysql_pconnect to mysql_connect and it seems to have solved all the issues with the monitors! they are all working perfectly now!
