I have the same problem with v1.24.2. I'm new for the zoneminder but got it finally working with with USB camera tweaked to be seen as IP camera in localhost. After this I purchased a cheap'o WLAN IP Camera (Zavio). Camera is pretty crappy and keeps resetting quite often without no reason whatsoever ...
