i can confirm this problem.

also tried every setting possible. no luck.

install zoneminder 1.24.2 / v4l1 set to auto/565 all ok.

lets start simple ;

if you log in directly to one of your IP cams if possible, what path do you have in your browser at the moment you watch the stream ?

might be handy to add some more details as Ubuntu version, zm version and more info in the topic next time. this isnt very useful to anybody.

tried many many hours with all kinds of settings

just downloadin 1.24.2 arch live cd to try. giving up on ubuntu 10.4 and 1.24.2 for the moment. its not stable.

regarding shared mem try:

# To increase the shared memory on a live system to test,you have to be root !
so that would be :

sudo -i
echo 134217728 >/proc/sys/kernel/shmall
echo 134217728 >/proc/sys/kernel/shmmax

show us zmwatch.log ( peace of it )

permissions /dev/video0 ok ?

do once again fsck , reboot. and try to acces your zm database
