Had a similar problem in Ubuntu server. Apache2 was running. Stopped it and nginx then started.

Re: How to enforce low FPS in v4l2 for /dev/video0?

I can only offer an alternative. I use two Logitech webcams, a C920 for detection and Quickcam Pro 9000 recording at high resolution and I have no problems with framerate. I don't remember the command to get resolutions and framerates for webcams but resolutions only work with certain framerates ...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04.1 and zm 1.27.1 issues

For my Foscam FI9821W that I had running in a virtual machine, I used libvlc but had problems simillar to what you describe. The problem ended after lowering the Bit rate to 512k in the camera settings. I kept the 720P resolution but lowered the Frame rate to 10. Maybe worth a try.

Re: 24x7 Camera Monitor

An MK808B works. Just tried it with tinyCam Monitor free with 4 cams over the lan. Chrome on this device will also work and, for me, gives better image quality especially with my high resolution webcam. But tinyCam Monitor will space the monitors like you pictured. I didn't try the Pro version of ...

Re: Send emails if camera fails/goes offline?

Perhaps not applicable but when I was having a problem with a ip cam, I used a cron job to run a script. The script would ping the ip and exit if successful but loop, for reliability, after wait and ping again. On failure a sms would be sent to my phone using sendEmail program. Or maybe watch a ...

Mailer alternative possibly, sendEmail

I had a foscam under an eave with its power connected to a extension cord plugged in to a portable GFCI which is more typically used to connect power equipment. The GFCI was sensitive and would trip every couple of days and so the foscam camera would be unavailable for long periods of time. So I set ...

Re: Changing brightness / contrast at specific time of day

I have two cron jobs, one for morning and the other for evening which I manually alter throughout the year to adjust for sunrise/sunset. The cron jobs run day.sh or night.sh which contain the commands to adjust a webcam and a cctv cam but no adjustments for a ip cam. The scripts use v4l2-ctl and ...
