Ok, the neighbour fixed it, I needed to install xaw, which i did via
which was the Athena library (?), which had the library in it (?)

Hi, I am pretty much a noob to linux, so bear with me. I have tried as hard as possible to get zoneminder to work and the forums are my last port of call (I even asked my neighbour who also uses zoneminder).
