reading licence plates, comparing to web site database?
Canada rcmp has a site that you can manually type in the province and the license plate number to see if a car is stolen. I think it would be a great featured to be added to zone minder, for at least up here, to have this. Has anyone adapted LPR technology into zone minder? It would also be a great ...

Re: port forwarding for zoneminder
Paco, yes, doing a whatismyip.com and accessing from the backside to test it is what I am trying to do. I will change the port to 8080 on my dlink router.
Another thing, zone minder is stuck in alarm mode. The event Id has not changed in two-three days. Lots of cars drive past the camera.

port forwarding for zoneminder
I have port forwarded 80 to my zoneminder server on the telus d-link router and so far, cannot access the server.
So, mabey I am missing something here? Does it require TCP and UDP? is there more then one port required?
Thanks

Re: ubuntu 10.04 dekstop+ Goki gq-695q + Bt848 4 port black
I finally got my zoneminder to work! The options were probably wrong and read the settings from another site. I also switched my source to NTSC "After reading this is the right standard to use as of yesterday" I selected grb24 and now its working. the only downside is it is slow for one camera. I ...

hik, Just say, congrates! I could not get it to work on centos. So have ubuntu installed and now its working. Even with the pakage manager installing zoneminder, it STILL has some issues. I have to manually execute the perl start script in /etc/rc2.d to make it run. BTW, what cameras do you use to ...

Re: Specing a server for 104 cameras
I once provided security for a high end federal site that had 46 cameras. There was at least 3-4 servers recording video. Now I do telecom installations as well as other work. I have done my share of large cable installations 3-5 thousand feet of cable per store for IBM. If this is for evaluation ...

Re: ./config compile error. All options selected.
masterknife, We talked on irc tonight. thanks for the help getting my system configured as well as bb99 and Coyote. Now, zoneminder is not loading on bootup. I can manually load the rc file by typing in: /etc/rc2.d/S20zoneminder start And it does load. But what in the boot process loads this rc file?

bb99, I got flicker free vidio on xawtv!!! But, I am not out of the woods yet! I am still getting no source "red /dev/vidio0 (0)" in the zoneminder web site. I am going to redirect this thread to the version of the software now that the card and camera are working. I think this is some kind of issue ...

Re: ./config compile error. All options selected.
good news! Seems I was having memory setting issues. smmin amd smmax were set to zero. So gave them the correct memory settings. I can now see flicker free vidio in xawtv!!! but, The zoneminder source text is still red!! it needs to be yellow to read the vidio. I still have a problem and will not ...

Re: New to camera setup. This camera DID work with zm a few
Well did as you said. I used modprobe bttv and got this reply: modprobe bttv WARNING: Deprecated config file /etc/modprobe.conf, all config files belong into /etc/modprobe.d/. the card has been switched into a different card slot. I will be doing a google search of this error and see what it means ...
