Check your zone settings and try to bring any points on the outer edges of the image in a little. I came across this error on my install and bringing the edges in a few pixels sorted it out.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm also still unsure what was causing the issue, but after a lot of trial and error getting me nowhere with different settings I backed up my database, deleted and recreated it from the initial zm_create file, and then imported in just the motion zone info from the old DB ...

Do you have the ffmpeg development packages installed? It appears from those errors that the make process is having trouble finding them.

If you change your check method in your zone settings to 'Blob' you will then see an outline in alarmed frames, though I don't know of any way to show it during playback. You can find the alarmed frames by going to an event, and clicking the 'frames' link, then scroll down to the highlighted frames ...
