I am currently using CentOS 6 with zoneminder from svn and ffmpeg from git with zoneminder from the stable download i had no success. with zoneminder from svn and ffmpeg from git I had the same error as long --with-ffmpeg=..." in the zm ./configure string was not ok. build ffmpeg with --prefix=/opt ...

Please try the following: open term and install git and svn (subversion) if not installed get ffmpeg via git ... build it cd ffmpeg ./configure --enable-gpl --enable-shared --enable-pthreads make make install OK. may be that libs are installed in /usr/local/lib ! Not in /usr/lib64 if you run 64bit ...
