Re: Gentoo - Zoneminder 1.25.0 - Socket Errors
Hi there, I have done a quick search of the forums/interwebs and haven't found any satisfactory answers to the problem I'm facing. I'm running Zoneminder 1.25.0 on Gentoo Linux, using mmap, with 4 cameras. All _seems_ to be working ok but my log files keep filling up with errors along the lines of ...

Re: Jumping video (ZM 1.25.0)
you said you had a 4 port 4 chip card. you have /dev/video0 then channel 0 1 2 3. it should be video0, video1, video2, video3 all channel 0, try that. Thank you for the suggestion but the documentation gets quite in-depth on this particular subject; I won't quote it here as it's already linked to ...

Re: stream freeze
Could you please elaborate what Browser and what version it is that you're having the trouble with and if you've tried alternatives such as Chrome, Firefox etc. I had a similar issue, while building my ZM server I had a monitor (an actual PC monitor) connected to the VGA socket so I could watch the ...

Re: Jumping video (ZM 1.25.0)
Something else I noticed is that your capture method is set to "Video for Linux version 2". I am using Video for Linux version 1 on the remote system I'm running. Version 2 didn't work. Also, have you looked at your log files for any clues? For some reason, I only have V4L Version 2 as an option ...

Re: Jumping video (ZM 1.25.0)
I just re-read the entire post and only one thing comes to mind: change all your monitors to BGR24 and reboot the machine. They will all go red, as you are discribing, as you change them but don't be concerned (please double check that all other monitor settings, especially resolution, are exactly ...

Re: Jumping video (ZM 1.25.0)
bb99, thank you again for the prompt reply. I have configured my options as per your instruction and doubled the amount of physical memory on the machine from 1GB to 2GB. I can see an immediate improvement in the picture quality of my cameras but alas, I am still not getting colour images ...

Re: Jumping video (ZM 1.25.0)
Set "captures_per_frame" to a value of 2. Leave multi buffers unticked. Use BGR24 as your palette. As for the memory issue: increase shmmax to 150% or more of current value or lower resolution to 320*240. If your using mmap: I'm suggesting you're running out of memory to map. Several command line ...

Unable to query card : "Error0"
I have four cameras connected to a Kodicom 4400R (http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Kodicom_4400r) PCI card, running on a P4 3GHZ with 1GB RAM, ZM v1.25.0 and OpenSuse12.1. The cameras are all displaying the image OK in Greyscale but I can't seem to get them working in colour :( I saw ...

Re: Servers crashing, out of memory, kills process
Flasheart, I noticed that the OP did mention he'd already increased the amount of memory and while it is a hard problem to identify, Nagios may provide an insight into something - of course, it might not and I'm not suggesting that is the only Monitoring tool out there ... the reason I suggested it ...

Re: Servers crashing, out of memory, kills process
hi gregom I wouldn't go as far as rebuilding the machines once a year, perhaps create a simple cron job that restarts the MYSQL and ZM services daily, say during the day or when the cameras are needed the least? Perhaps the machines may have developed a hardware memory problem; try booting with the ...

Re: Multiple Disk Handling - without LVM or RAID
Hi Thanks for the great post, my only critisism (sorry) is that Motherboards with on-board RAID are now quite inexpensive as are Terrabyte drives. The solution we use here in the office (or rather, will be when we get ZM playing nicely!) has 4TB (2 x 2TB) and Hardware RAID ... it cost us (cameras or ...

Re: Jumping video (ZM 1.25.0)
My previous comment was in reference to problem #2. Ah, nice one, well I am about to leave work for the day so when I get in (I already made the configuration change) I shall plug in the 2nd camera and see what happens (you can GUARANTEE I will be re-posting lol!) Cheers and fingers crossed to see ...

Re: Jumping video (ZM 1.25.0)
Hello knnniggett I am sorry if I wasn't very clear in my post above so let me try to improve this: I have two problems ... Problem # 1 If I have a single monitor defined (/dev/video0 channel 3, Format PAL, Palette GREY at W 768 x H 576) I get a picture, it's stable and the Motion detection works etc ...

Re: newbie install help needed
It sounds to me like the installation of ZM is not complete, perhaps it didn't write the virtual directory configuration into your httpd.conf file or something ... In my OpenSuSE installation, Apache will load all .conf files from its "conf.d" folder. Within there there is a zm.conf file: # turn ...

Re: Jumping video (ZM 1.25.0)
Hello forums. I am sorry for the bump of my own thread but I have been backwards and forwards with this and made zero progress :( I have read thread after thread until my eyes are sore and my head is pounding! I have read about using card=77 in modprobe.conf and all sorts of various command-line ...
