ok, here's what i did: from a fresh install of Ubuntu dapper 6.06 (desktop) installed Xampp (www.apachefriends.org) downloaded ffmpeg svn and folowed http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=170488 that guide about building it followed the install guide there about building ZM, as for options ...

:) just made it run off dapper 5 minz ago, building FFmpeg and adding the extralibs tag fixes all in ubuntu. my personal recomendation, don't use apt-get for libavcodec, libavformat and ffmpeg
just apt the ogg,vorbis,dc1394 and theora libs and build ffmpeg from svn

looks like all probles between dapper and zoneminder are ffmpeg based, im about to try out this solution :

Building problems

i have installed ubuntu breezy (5.10) and is giving me a hard time to compile. i won't repost the problem here, since it's been posted more than once, (all the mpeg .o files). i have followed the instructions on other posts about fixing the issue and still have no luck. i know ffmpeg is the problem ...

mmm no i don't heheh, but i also think that it's not "necessary" if screens could be sent to a device, then the montage could be made with any player, off course i could be getting all wrong and talking nonsense, but i don't now heheh

heheh, i think i didn't explain myself quite nicely =P the thing is that i want a montage on the Linux box, to plug a TV into the Video card Tv output to watch them, i don't care about the delay over the net, that "regular" thing but when watching the live cams off the box, i would like to have ...

well, depends on load, but it rounds 5 - 10 secs

1 have 2 BT848 Chipset 4 cam boards and that delay is getting on my nerves!

=(

any comments are prefiated, im noob with ZM and linux in general =P

well, i just found ZM on the web and think is a really cool App, the only problem that i can find, is that even in the cameras computer, there is a noticeable delay (from streaming) between what happens and what u see... I just wanted to know, is there any way to create / use the devices directly ...
