Seems I deleted filter PurgeWhenFull
As title suggests. I appear to have deleted the filter option PurgeWhenFull Bit of a mistake. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to recover it or recreate it :S Ive just managed to set up zm 1.25 on Ubuntu basic server 12.04 LTS with a Kodicom 4400r card after a series of efforts ...

Re: raid and filesystem question
not done it myself but afaik needs to be set both at server and switch, therefore requiring capable switches, passive/unmanaged afaik arent up to the job.
google nic bonding or nic teaming.

Re: raid and filesystem question
ok, interesting. thanks for the detailed breakdown. Cost of ddr3 now such prob just as well go 8gb anyway. ill prob be running 2 x gigabit networks on netgear prosafe unmanaged switches with a mikrotik 802.11n 5ghz bridge in the middle, most cams will be on 1 side, less cams and nvr on other side ...

Re: raid and filesystem question
nice, thanks for replying, ill prob be back to ask questions come the time I try a setup
system will initially be 3 cams with up to 8/9 maximum, do you think 4gb should do for ram or are there benefits on using 8gb combined with a 64bit server distro, benefits specific to zm i mean.

Re: AVTech IP Camera config
Its always dependencies with things like this in linux
Annoying, it wont let me post links, was going to link to a guide that seemed to fit for you that I found.
Google "ffmpeg all codecs x264 debian" some results in fist page of results seem to be suited to your purposes.

Re: Zoneminder still under development?
Thanks for responding. Hope it is, wanted to try it for some time and now an opportunity has arisen, however its a system Im doing for someone and im hesitant to set it up long term if the development has ceased. It would be a great pity, I have a lot of respect for open source developers and ...

Re: AVTech IP Camera config
thanks for responding, thanks.
similarly just got one initially to test. I wont be testing for a few days yet but I will report back if I can.
Could this be down to dependencies like ffmpeg libx264 etc?

Re: AVTech IP Camera config
How did you get on?
Glad it worked for ispy, thats one of my fallback options
Im about to build a system initially using 3 of the AVN257 cameras and I hope to use zoneminder and h.264 from the cameras. Theyre nice cameras with a decent spec for the price, I struggled to find better for less.

raid and filesystem question
Thinking of building a PC for zm, possibly small ssd for boot, system etc and a pair of mirror raid drives for storage. Or does zm do much of its thing resident in memory once loaded and ssd is overkill? How/where does zm store video? could I possibly assign softraid storage to that specific mount ...
