PurgeWhenFull not auto purging?
I came to find out that my ZM server was full, had been for like a week, and stopped recording all together. I have a slightly modified PurgeWhenFull (sp?)... it omits a camera (it is a camera that only takes a single photo ever 10 mins, i.e. timelapse) and limits matches to 50 instead of the ...

Re: Fresh install / ZoneMinder won't start
did you install FFMPEG? it doesn't get automagically installed... no idea if that is the problem
edit... also check that MySQL is running
edit2... oh and the web interface is Apache, that will/should run regardless of the MySQL/Zoneminder statuses
edit... also check that MySQL is running
Code: Select all
sudo service mysql status

Re: Quality vs resolution vs size example
Will look, but I tried yesterday setting the video (which is only h.264, no choices) to "highest" quality, and did not see any difference in the resulting images (at quality 90 from zoneminder). Nor any significant change in size (maybe 3-5%). I don't want to check my focus, as the cameras are ...

Re: What hardware you running ZoneMinder on?
I went "low power" for mine, whole system under load pulls 40 watts... AMD AM1 5350 APU, 4-cores 2ghz, 4GB RAM. 64GB SSD system drive, 320GB WD AV SataII hard drive (predecessor to the Purple drive, I will upgrade to 1TB soon). 400w 80plus power supply, way overkill... Stuffed into a 4U rackmount I ...

Re: Quality vs resolution vs size example
There is a double caveat to "compression" (compression, decompression, then compression again).. there is video/mjpg compression at the camera, then again at the ZM server. I lean toward very little compression coming from the camera, then a little compression at the ZM (since I am currently running ...

Re: Scrambled picture Ubuntu Desktop and 1.28 ZM
PCI card? I remember back in the "olden days" some legacy PCI cards would not soft reset at reboot, required a hard power-reset to make them reset. Some BIOS vendors have had an option to send resets to the PCI bus, might be worth checking.

Re: Scrambled picture Ubuntu Desktop and 1.28 ZM
I had a similar issue when I had "Rotate 90*" selected instead of "Rotate 180*"... it striped the video in a cascade similar to that

Re: Interesting I/O idea for ZM alarms/triggers
The sad part of the story is that mainboards with less than 5 years (maybe more) do not have a parallel port anymore. The good thing is that the price of a parallel port board costs < $25, so it's affordable and feasible. Thanks for the information! PacoLM I still come across boards with LPT ...

did you follow the instructions in the manual to set it up for your network? Page #9 in their online PDF manual has the RTSP strings, as well as here for a FI98xx: http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Foscam_FI9805W

getting the best quality video exports?
I have a couple of videos I need to export for our local law enforcement... I've tried tweaking a few things (Bitrate, FPS, different file types) and I still get a lot of JPEG artifacts in the export. File size/bandwidth isn't an issue

Re: cannot start zoneminder / Video export not working
had this error once... did you recently disable the zoneminder service from starting? in any case, all I did was reboot the server
