Re: New Real time Event Notification Service for ZM
Work on other aspects of my system has kept me from finding this out for myself: Judging from the settings of average score among others, my guess is that an alert can not get emailed until the event [that triggered my emailing filter] is completely ended, am I right? IOW, if an event that matches ...

Script to keep ZoneMinder email options IP address current
This is for all who have dynamic addressing from their ISP and don't want to use a 3rd party domain-name service like dyndns.org. (I decided I didn't want to use dyndns.org for reasons now forgotten, maybe because I didn't want their daemon running on my server? I didn't know I could use ddclient ...

Re: Port knocking for firewall control, anyone use it?
Port knocking turns out not to fulfill my expectations. My ideal fire-walling, and what I think is perfectly attainable, would allow a fixed time window for an iptables-type "NEW" packet's sender, if not already whitelisted or blacklisted, to authenticate in one or more of several ways. If no ...

Re: Port knocking for firewall control, anyone use it?
I might have port knocking working as well as I can get it with the standard knockd. It is accumulating a bunch of DENYs like I hoped, but not enough since many of the perps only hit me once so they don't get caught. I'm closer to concluding that knockd and its associated support scripts along with ...

Re: Port knocking for firewall control, anyone use it?
Got port knocking to work, but it (knockd) is not capable of triggering on a single port knock. How disappointing. I may just try fail2ban again. I have knockd configured to tweak on the iptables using ufw. Looking through the ufw view of the iptables, there are three sections shown by a ufw status ...

Re: Port knocking for firewall control, anyone use it?
Valid points, but can fail2ban blacklist an IP based on only a single probe ? From what I saw, it needed the offending IP to establish a pattern of probing before it was helpful. Since my system is for home surveillance (pretty much single user), I can keep the user side under control. I want port ...

Port knocking for firewall control, anyone use it?
Does anyone here use port knocking for controlling their firewall? I did "apt-get install knockd" and it warns me that zoneminder would get removed if I continued the install. So I'm perplexed. A good port knocking setup would be a fabulous firewall alternative to maintaining a whitelist like I'm ...

Re: HIKVISION DS-2CD2032-I camera
I was wondering why we weren't getting higher resolution, so I fed the stream into vlc, which displayed a message "The XVideo rendering acceleration driver does not support the required resolution of 2048x1536 pixels but 2046x1536 pixels instead. Acceleration will thus be disabled. Performance may ...

Re: HIKVISION DS-2CD2032-I camera
Thank you immensely for this post. I bought two DS-2CD2332-I, not the DS-2CD2032-I, and your settings are just what I needed! Then I tried a second camera of the same model. No go. Instead, I had to use the following setting, which I found out worked fine with both cameras: Source Path: rtsp ...

Re: Zone configuration
Take this as a guess, I just want to see how this turns out: That particular event should have been avoided by a max blobs setting, I should think. See how many blobs you can count? Scores if not hundreds. A person's image would have been a far fewer number of blobs. Maybe 20 or less? Try a max ...

Re: Updated to the latest version and won't work
I have to concur. I was excited to upgrade from 1.28.2 to 1.28.102 so I could test out the ZMNinja, but alas, the upgrade step "a2enconf zoneminder" produced this response "ERROR: Conf zoneminder not properly enabled: /etc/apache2/conf-enabled/zoneminder.conf exists but does not point to /etc ...

Re: Kubuntu Not seeing the packages to install
That worked Kenneth, I also got msql installed. still have more configuring yet to do but you did get me on the right path, Thanks again. You're welcome. For anyone installing this way, bypassing the repositories, you need to be careful that the .deb file you get is made for the flavor and version ...

Thanks for checking that out. Who knows. Maybe it was some way I installed Ubuntu server that time.bbunge wrote: And, as of yesterday there was no problems with the iconnor PPA as I set up several systems as a test.

Re: Securing the login page
I'm trying Fail2ban myself, but I also set up ufw, the default firewall. I don't have my server in the wild yet, but later today I should know how well it works.
Did you get ZM upgraded to 1.28.1 like I suggested in the other post?
