-Update-

Ok, I finally got to try the video card in a system with more resources. I used the Live CD because I'm not allowed to install an operating system on this machine, and it's normally windows. I used Xawtv to look at the video card, and saw nothing but black images. The thing that confused me, was ...

I'm using Ubuntu, Breezey Badger. The kernel version is 2.6.12-10-386.

I don't reall have the resources to take a picture of the card myself, but this picture is the generic picture that resellers put with the card:

Minimum requirements?

What are the minimum system requirements for the LiveCD? As I've discussed in this thread thread, I've been trying to get my video card working on a relatively low specs machine. I'm starting to think the problem may be my distro/kernel build, so I thought I'd try the LiveCD. The problem though, is ...

Ok, I the dmesg I showed before was after changing my modprobe.conf as suggested by jameswilson. After removing that, I get the following dmesg: [4294715.902000] bttv: driver version 0.9.15 loaded [4294715.902000] bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture [4294715.914000] bttv ...

The card seems to be recognized, but as I've said, the problem is that I'm not seeing anything. Would that have anything to do with the detection?

-Edit-
I took out my graphics card and confirmed that it has a connexant chip.

I'm a bit confused. There are reports of the card working as far back as July of 2004, now I'm hearing that it doesn't work with more recent versions of the kernel? What options does that give me? Should I try a different distro with a more recent kernel? Finding a different card is going to be ...

Ok, in this post cordel said that this card should not need any modifications to modprobe.conf. As stated before, I know the camera is fine, because I get a signal out of it on my television. Additionaly, I've found that if I plug it into my security card and watch the monitor as I turn the power to ...

I don't have a /usr/src/linux/ directory. I haven't mentioned, but my distro is Ubuntu. I know there are people who have gotten ZM to work on Ubuntu, but they may have had to take some different route. Also, how do I "study the chips on My card?" This is all relatively new to me, and that doesn't ...

That didn't seem to solve my problem. Where would I go about finding what number I need to use?
-Edit-
I tried the number 78. Now I find that channels 1, 2, and 3 show up red (RGB24), but channel 0 shows up black.

Hi, A month or two back I installed zoneminder and tried to get it working with a webcam. It turned out the webcam I was using was incompatible with Zoneminder, so I gave up on that. Now I've finally gotten my Kworld SEC800B security card and a Swan outdoor security camera. Now, I should state that ...

Turns zms was in the wrong directory. Now I'm getting a streaming image, but it's bizarre looking. The image seems extremely zoomed in, and it seems like there are multiple images crammed into the same spot. I think I saw something about this when I was searching the forums earlier, so I'll do some ...

-Update- As it turns out I hadn't added the startup script properly, so the daemon wasn't running. At this point zmc seems to be running, however I still get no image in the monitor. It says it is idle and varies between 8 and 10 FPS, but there is no picture. I don't know whether this will simplify ...

I have tried the device Channel as 0, and I've tried the format as both 0 and 1. I have the capture pallete set to grey, the width is 320 and the height is 240. Orientation is normal. I don't know what other information may be helpful, but I'll be happy to provide any information that may be useful ...

Pixart Webcam

Hi, I've recently installed ZM on an Ubuntu machine. I've ordered a video card for some more serious cameras, but right now I'm trying to get a Pixart webcam to work with zoneminder. I've had no trouble getting it to work with xwatv, however I have been unsuccessful getting anything out of it from ...
