Re: Link monitor to specific zone(s) on another monitor

Ressurecting a slightly old thread but I was wanting to do something similar. I have one camera, but it has two streams - an HQ stream and an LQ one. I want to always record on the HQ stream but have it do no motion detection. I want the LQ, ideally, to only alert on motion and no recording anything ...

Re: RTSP/ffmpeg producing grey images or smears?

Interesting. I'll have to try ffmpeg with your settings and see how it goes then. libvlc is actually working reliably now, but it does use noticeably more CPU. Nothing my system can't keep up with for just my test camera, but that could be significant once I start adding more cameras. With libvlc ...

RTSP/ffmpeg producing grey images or smears?

I suspect this might be more related to the camera, though I haven't been able to reproduce it when looking at the stream directly. If I try to use Remote/RTSP or FFMPEG/RTSP with my Foscam FI9821P, it works but I get lots of "alarms" due to the stream turning all grey and/or smearing. I can see ...

Re: Recording MPEG streams directly?

Ooop, sorry. Ubuntu 14.04, although I installed ffmpeg via the PPA. Having said that, I can't get MPEG/SWF to work on the viewing side so not sure what's going on there. That said, if Zoneminder won't write MPEG video to disk normally, I think the JPEG-based viewer would be just fine. I was really ...

Recording MPEG streams directly?

Is it possible to be able to record an MPEG stream directly off the camera and to disk? The ideal would be only grabbing a few JPEGs during non-alarm mode, but to grab the MPEG stream when alarming but I haven't been able to get MPEG streams to disk at all so far. My actual plan is to configure to ...

Re: ZoneMinder on a NAS, Plus Camera Suggestions?

As an update, I bought a Foscam FI9821P and set things up with my NAS. With it not doing much else other than ZoneMinder, the load is around .3 using the Modetect option. I used Fast - Low Sensitivity for the zone and draw a parallelogram that covers about 60% or the screen or so (basically over ...

Re: ZoneMinder on a NAS, Plus Camera Suggestions?

Indeed it's not a powerhouse. At the time I wanted a passively cooled low power solution. I've run into a few issues with it but overall not many. I noticed folks are running ZM on Raspberry Pi2's now. Motion detection might be a nice feature but turning it off should considerably lower CPU? For ...

ZoneMinder on a NAS, Plus Camera Suggestions?

I'm wanting to deploy some IP + PoE cameras around the outside of my house. I'm actually trying to use a local security camera installer, but haven't found one I've been super happy with yet. Since I'm wanting to go with ZoneMinder, most either won't let me do that level of customization (I need to ...
