Re: Zoneminder 1.29.0 not creating monitor directory under /tmp/zm
Hi bunge, The behavior olgs describes sounds like a bug. The option help under Paths states: "ZM_PATH_SWAP Buffered playback requires temporary swap images to be stored for each instance of the streaming daemons. This option determines where these images will be stored. The images will actually be ...

Re: Questions about 'states'
Hi Tantamount, It looks like if you have duplicate monitors that are not in use, change their "Function" to "None" before you save your state. I just checked, and if I leave a Monitor to "Modect" but set it to "Enabled -> Unchecked" (ie disabled) then there are still /usr/bin/zma and /usr/bin/zmc ...

Re: Questions about 'states'
I believe the Zone information is linked to each particular Monitor. When I wanted to have two different zones settings, I had to create two monitors for the same camera to adjust the zone settings, and then have two different States (Daytime, and Night) setup to apply those settings. You can ...

Re: Upgrade from 1.26.5 to 1.29.0 - using vlc + linked hi-res low-res IP cam
No problem! This is just an old Athlon 64 X2 4400+ dual core processor machine /w 2GB ram, so it chugs through things a little bit slower :) Right now in the MySQL 5.5.47 ZM database (innodb format tables) I've got the following: Events: 20974 rows (4MB) Frames: 3673706 rows (175MB) Stats: 1070406 ...

Upgrade from 1.26.5 to 1.29.0 - using vlc + linked hi-res low-res IP cam
I've just upgraded my Ubuntu 14.04 from Zoneminder 1.26.5 to 1.29 using the following guide: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Common_Issues_with_Zoneminder_Installation_on_Ubuntu#Ubuntu_14.04_-_ZM_1.26.5_or_later_to_1.29.0_or_the_latest_PPA_version I followed all the steps and it worked well, thanks! The ...

Re: Clean install of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS + ZM 1.29, cant get it to work?!
I seem to remember this issue affecting my Zoneminder after upgrading to 14.04 LTS. My system is currently running 14.04 LTS and Zoneminder 1.26.5. It's been a while since I had to set it up, but I think I had to change the following paths: Under Options -> Paths -> PATH_MAP: /run/shm Under Options ...

Re: Deleted Logs.frm ... D'OH!!!
So it sounds like the restored version of Logs.frm or a copy from a different system caused the file permissions or ownership to change, locking mysql out from being able to delete (and hence then re-create the table). If you want to delete the contents of a mysql table you should do it from within ...

Re: PC & capture card recommendations
I've still got a 16-port Bluecherry PV-155 as well which is still running fine. Bought it back in 2008 for $195. Apparently analog cameras are less cpu intensive since they present the raw video to be examined. Problem is most cameras are lower resolution.. Using it right now with the following old ...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS - PPA or Pinning?
Thanks for your suggestion, the only thing that makes me nervous about that is running a production server and running a development version (eg 1.29). I was reading in the 1.29 forum someone not realizing that they were upgrading to 1.29 from 1.28 when using the ppa:iconnor/zoneminder-master. But I ...

Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS - PPA or Pinning?
Hi there, Just finally getting an IP camera to add to my Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS system so I'd like to upgrade from v1.26.5 to v1.28.x. I'm a little confused as to the best and supported way to upgrade. It seems you can: a) upgrade your base distribution to a non LTS version of ubuntu b) Add a PPA (add ...
