I am very interested about this..... Where can I get some more information on it?SteveGilvarry wrote:We have an experimental branch around h264 storage, that saves h264 cameras direct to disk, and can encode other cameras into h264 for storage.

Re: Record mpeg vs images?
Ive thought about some type of batch job that follows and converts the images to a mpeg, but that would likely break a while lot internally to ZM.... Has anyone come up with some type of workaround??

Re: Record mpeg vs images?
After a few hours of streaming, I have pulled in 13 GB on my NIC, but stored 171GB.... I assume this is due to the loss of compression of the mpeg stream?

Record mpeg vs images?
I am currently recording a few RTSP streams (via ffmpeg), and I noticed that ZM stores separate images for each frame vs an actual mpeg. Is there any way to change this? Filling up space FAST with high resolution....
Thank you in advance!

Re: Storage Spread Over 5 Drives
What command did you use to map the new file system over? Looks like ln is bad....
From what I have seen, all my data is showing up as images in the images folder, did not yet see anything in the events folder (but maybe because I am not recording yet)

Re: Storage Spread Over 5 Drives
OK, so I have decided to go with ZFS, following https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Using_a_dedicated_Hard_Drive as a guide. This works until the part where you need to edit /etc/fstab (since you can not map to zfs here) How do I essentially do this for zfs, so I can map the old directories to the new ...

Re: Storage Spread Over 5 Drives
Thank you for the reply. I totally understand raid, but I was hoping to avoid using it in this case. I have worked with systems in the past that allow you to designate which channels record to which drive, and was hoping there was a way to do something similar.
Thanks again!

Re: Bosch RTSP Camera Issues
OK.....Making progress! I was able to change everything over and got the Source IP address to turn Green. When I go to look at the feed its still blank, but if I make it record, am able to export the video and download (works). At no point can I actually see a live stream or video in the browser ...

Storage Spread Over 5 Drives
My storage server will have (5) 6TB drives in it for a total of 30TB. Is there a "best way" to distribute recordings over all of the drives? I am NOT planning to use Raid for several reasons.
Thank you,
Eric

Re: Bosch RTSP Camera Issues
How to I change it to pass through ffmpeg? I do not see this option under Source. Under Options -- > Images ffmpeg is checked.
When I run that command, part of the output is:
H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 Part 10 / (decoders h264 h264_vdpau ) (encoders: libx264 libx264rgb)

Bosch RTSP Camera Issues
Hello all, I am new to ZoneMinder and am trying to add a Bosch IP Camera. I currently have it set to only monitor, Remote Protocol set to RTSP, Method RTP/RTSP, IP addy in for host name, and resolution set. (stream is view able from rtsp://IPADDRESS) When I look at the logs, I see a warning that ...
