Oohhh... Please Expose "Clone Monitor"" Button (Greyed?) on "Console" By Default! (TL;DR)

Think tongue in cheek. It's like sarcasm without all that sarcasm. I've suffered at least 10 discussions about presets, configs, cloning , monitors, id's, copying ,dumping and zmcamtool.pl... At least 3 or 4 times over at least 5 years.... When the answer to my question and perhaps %80 of others' ha...

Wyze Cam V3 RTSP Update: Mostly a mess: FFMPEG artifacts, libvlc doesn't work, VLC app works

Hi,

Installed Wyze V3 RTSP software. Getting artifacts on motion using FFMEG. libvlc shows blank/no image, but standalone VLC works fine.

Followed a few recipes, mostly for Wyze V2, no luck.

Suggestions? Success stories?

Thinking of loading 3rd party firmware. Any experience?

1.30.04-> 1.32.3 Ubuntu 18.04: "Upgrade", or de-install re-install?

Hi, running 1.30.4 on Ubuntu Bionic 18.04. Want to move to 1.32.3 for storage areas and h.264/h.265 containers. Viewed the release notes but they are more descriptive than prescriptive. Noticing lots of people have issues after upgrade. But of course people only post questions when they have issues....

Re: Storage Geodiversity Soln. Sought for Zoneminder: RSYNC? Cloud? RAID over IP?

Uh, actually I'm waffling on the issue. DRDB seems complicated and as you say probably won't work well,. I think I'll stabilize 1.30.4 on my "primary" machine, and start experimenting with 1.31.x on the "mirror". My friends are starting to look at me sideways for having spent so ...

Looking into drbd now. Don't have the guts to mess w/1.31.x yet. I'll let you know how it goes (not well I suspect).

Re: How, which view, can I see alarmed pixels highlighted in real time?

Hmmm, must have been a distant memory either from a standalone (ie: Zmodo) SVR or, more likely, from the Windows "equivalent" of ZM (forget the name).

Thanks again!

OK, I'll look into those and finally look into 1.31.x as well.

Thank you always!

Re: How best to reboot or power off Zoneminder servers quickly and gracefully?

Thanks bbunge, yeah I more or less figured that out a day or two after posting. What had me fooled was that merely shutting down ZM via "service" seemed to take longer than a "reboot", so I assumed reboot was shutting down ungracefully. I think more the truth is that shuttinng do...

How best to reboot or power off Zoneminder servers quickly and gracefully?

I kept noticing a bunch of pesky errors in the log about not being able to stat /tmp/zm, socket errors, etc. But once in a great while the logs would stay clean for days after a reboot. Seemed to come and go at random. Eventually I hit on the idea of issuing "service zoneminder stop" befor...

Storage Geodiversity Soln. Sought for Zoneminder: RSYNC? Cloud? RAID over IP?

Hi, OK what if someone breaks in and steals my Zoneminder server? Or worse? I suppose it's something we've all thought about. As it happens I've got a high speed WIFI link with another residence about 1/2 mile away. So I'm seeking input on server-diverse RAID-like strategies. RSYNC? Home cloud ie: U...

Re: ZoneMinder Deletes 120GB+ (All?) Events With Little Provocation: Logs Inaccessable

Yes I'm looking forward to migrating off of SSD to HD's. Originally I was running off a 120 GB flash pen drive (one of those fast ones with an SSD controller/USB bridge internally). Sure enough it more or less locked up on me. I can't remember how long it lasted, somewhere between 6 mos. and one year

How, which view, can I see alarmed pixels highlighted in real time?

I think at one point I was able to see alarming pixels in real time, which is useful for debugging. But now I can't figure out how. I find this reference in the wiki section on "Defining Zones": "Alarm Colour These parameters can be used to individually colorize the zone overlay patte...

Zoneminder Compilation Toolchain, Tips?

I'd like to make some minor changes in Zoneminder, as indicated in my previous post here: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=26453&p=101918&hilit=workaround+described#p101918 What tools would I need, and would I need any libraries not included with the tools or Zoneminder...

Re: ZoneMinder Deletes 120GB+ (All?) Events With Little Provocation: Logs Inaccessable

Rockedge I see your point, my wording was ambiguous. What I meant was that significant events in the real world were not being alarmed. For example, while my camera was aimed at my car, someone opened the door to my car (which evidence suggests I not only left unlocked but slightly ajar) and the eve...

ZoneMinder Deletes 120GB+ (All?) Events With Little Provocation: Logs Inaccessable

I searched through old discussions and found some near misses but lost my patience, hope you don't mind my asking directly: Setup is ZM 1.30.4 under Ubuntu Server 17.10, 250MB SSD, Logitech C920 webcams (which have good low-light sensitivity for the price, BTW). Remote control via Chrome, though als...
