You can try mjpg-streamer or motion, both are in Ubuntu repositories. I use mjpg-streamer running on a Asus wl 520gu router(custom openwrt firmware) with a logitech orbit usb cam. Works great.

Are you trying to access the USB camera as a device on the remote machine? If so I don't think ZM can do that. You need to a run ZM on the remote computer as well, or some other streaming software(mjpegstreamer, Motion) that your server can access.

You could try pointing your ZM to BSTI web site demo camera. This would narrow down where the problem is ie: If it doesn't work the problem is with your ZM server. Source type: remote Function: monitor Maximum FPS:15 SOURCE: Remote host name: guest:guest@www.bsti.com.tw Remote host port: 204 remote ...

After following NVA's posts I bought a WL-520gu a couple of weeks ago. Had no joy with the Kamikaze firmware or the svn firmware but got it to work using the firmware and following the tutorial at this site http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=13327 Works great, including the PTZ for my Orbit Sphere ...

What about setting your "Buffer Post Event" to match the 3 minutes (or longer) that the security light is on for.

I have this capture card and 98 is definitely the card number that should be used.
I had a similar problem with one of my cameras a couple of years ago, it turned out to be a voltage problem to the camera.

Are you using FireFox web browser to view ZM? Can you view each channel independently? If so you'll probably have to make some adjustments to your Firefox browser. Google will help you on this one.

Restart ZoneMinder
