Camera Disconnects
I put this question as a response to a previous thread a week ago. I didn't get any responses in that thread so I'll start a new thread - in case the previous one was missed. I have a Wanscam HW0043 that is frequently disconnecting from ZM. I'm getting frequent "Signal" events in the event log ...

Re: A Couple Of Questions
Thanks to both of you. bbunge - I know/assume the railroads get concerned about a variety of things like trespassing, etc. One of the things I like about my approach is that I'm basing it only on what can be seen. So I'm figuring that significantly reduces any concerns about being invasive on their ...

A Couple Of Questions
If you've read my previous posts you may recall I've been working on an effort to alert people in the town where I live when trains are approaching. I spoke with a friend and we've decided to make this effort open source. Our current plan is to use ZM for initial event identification, We hope to ...

Re: Live Stream Lost using ffmpeg
Thanks for the help.
I seem to be back in business. I had an errant '/' in my ScriptAlias file. When I got that fixed the live stream returned.
Thanks!
Jim

Live Stream Lost using ffmpeg
[I posted this as part of another thread I started (about an error log) but essentially I initiated my own thread drift. So I'll start a new thread.] I changed from having my connection type go from "Remote" to "ffmpeg". Things worked OK at first, but then they started to degrade. Now I can no ...

Re: Is This Log Normal?
I'm sorry to report things have degraded. Here are the various oddities/possible indicators of weirdness gong on. I assume these will provide indicators to someone more knowledgeable than me: * I no longer see the live stream. * Motion events are being captured. Alerts are bing logged. But I can't ...

Re: Is This Log Normal?
Wow! You should change your login name to "ZM Whisperer" or something like that. LOL It worked great. I guess I *hadn't* tried actually putting in the full rtsp url. Since I don't know this stuff very well I was getting hung up on doing that while having TCP in the the Source tab as well. Do you ...

Re: Is This Log Normal?
The only way I've been able to get the connection to my camera (Wanscam HW0043) has been to use the Remote Method and RTSP. I did so per this thread: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?t=24468 I think I'd like to us ffmpeg if I could....because I wonder if doing that would help with this ...

Is This Log Normal?
Is this log file normal? I'm not generating Alerts/events, but seeing all this activity - especially with codes of ERR - just makes me nervous. :) So.....is this normal? Thanks. JIm http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb460/Haselsmasher/Screenshot%20from%202017-07-11%2016-01-59_zps0pzvgyqv.png

Re: Using Motion Detection To Determine Object Movement Direction
Thanks. OpenCV is a good idea. I've heard of it and, before I discovered ZoneMinder, I thought I'd need to go down some sort of comparative image analysis to do what I want to do. I'm not a coder, at least not with modern technologies. I used to write amateur code (C, Fortran) many years ago. I've ...

Re: Using Motion Detection To Determine Object Movement Direction
OK....I'd like to keep digging into this....the next level of understanding, if you will. I just had a train go by. It generated 14 Alerts. But I believe most significantly, the *first* event of the 14 was raised by the correct sensor detecting which way the train was going. But out of the total of ...

Re: Using Motion Detection To Determine Object Movement Direction
Of all the times/weekends to have a reduced train schedule - this appears to be it. I think I've had two, maybe three, come by since my post above - which was 24 hours ago. (Normally we get 6-8 trains a day.) I'm definitely in the "get the sensitivity settings right" mode. I had a bunch of false ...

Re: Using Motion Detection To Determine Object Movement Direction
A quick follow-up: I appear to be WELL on my way to solving this problem using both suknil's and rockedge's responses. I've set up two monitors on the one camera. One has an active area prior to a preclusive, and the other the other way around. And I'm using rockedge's perl script to continuously ...

Awesome. Thanks.knnniggett wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2017 1:59 pm Open an event list, click on the Cause for any given event (mine says "Motion"), and there in the Notes field you will see the name of the zone which triggered the alarm.

Re: Using Motion Detection To Determine Object Movement Direction
Thanks for the ideas. I think I'm concluding (I'm new to ZM) that when an alarm occurs for a camera there is nothing in the alarm data itself that identifies *which* zone triggered the alarm, correct? I guess another way to ask that question: When an alarm occurs all we know is that an alarm ...
