syslog stuck on zoneminder!
I shutdown the server. I restarted exactly the same system configuration. Actually I moved all my drives to another computer. Same drives, same software, just different cpu and memory. Everything seems to work fine. Except from zm's logs page! The entries do not get refreshed. I can't get my head ...

Hikvision DS-2CD2045FWD-I and DS-2CD1023G0E-I work
with ffmpeg. Only problem is that the DS-2CD1023G0E-I needs -- dare I say it -- internet explorer to access it. But you do that once, then zoneminder has no problem to locating the rtsp stream. Also, DS-2CD2045FWD-I, being more expensive, has a better metal mechanism to tilt and turn on the right ...

Re: Unidentified flying objects on infrared
Thanks! I cleaned the camera and the surrounding walls today morning (there were a lot of moths and various insects), tonight it's the same. It's as if they saw me cleaning and called their friends to get back at me. I will try the machine learning hooks with zmeventnotification during the next week ...

Unidentified flying objects on infrared
Hello, does anybody know what the hell are things like these in the frames below? They produce around 200 events every night when the infrared is on. 2.jpg 1.jpg Insects? Hardware problem? They appear on both my (new hikvision) cameras. It's become really annoying. I noticed that windy conditions ...

Home alarm system
Does anybody know how I can trigger with ZM's motion detection a home alarm system? For example something like the email being received and a large alarm being set off?
Would you suggest any alarm-related forums or places I should look for information and ideas?
Many thanks.

Server build: CPU requirement?
Hi all, I am planning to install up to eight 4MP outdoor cameras, with which I want to do motion detection and use all the AI plugins that I will be able to use (not tried much yet). I need to build a server. Would a 12 core "gaming" CPU (ryzen 9) be appropriate or is it an overkill? Maybe an ...

Re: planning home area cover
Thanks! I am just torn over the camera. How come whether a camera is compatible or not cannot be known for sure? I mean, depending on the technologies it supports, we should be able to figure out before we buy them. Maybe there are specs that are not mentioned in the user manuals? Anyway, I 'll ...

Re: planning home area cover
First of all thank you all for your suggestions. Very much appreciated. Do you have a model of camera in mind? See the wiki's Hardware Compatibility List. What about server hardware? If you are using RTSP you will want to do h264 passthrough in 1.32, most likely. I have not tested high resolution ...

Hi!
I think I am going to buy in the next days the hikvision DS-2CD1021-I https://www.hikvision.com/upload/20170605030116551.pdf . I am not sure if it will work with ZM, if you know better please let me know! I found it for 60 euros, it's worth it, right?
Thanks.

planning home area cover
Hello, I am planning the cover around my house and I 'd like to ask for your help. My house is in the middle of a rectangular field/garden (4000 square meters, 1 acre). I want to secure the whole field, in the sense that I want to detect if someone is around the fence or breaks in through fence ...

Re: Priorities ram? Cores? GPU?
Thanks for all the useful tips jwarfin! Would you mind sharing which hikvision 1.3MP cameras do you use? I am looking for some relatively cheep hikvision bullet cameras to start with.
