Re: Camers not viewable on lan when no internet connection.
Give all cameras and your server fixed LAN IP addresses. In fact, convert all of your LAN connected devices to fixed IPs where feasible. It's so much easier that way once you get used to it. Reserve a small range of IPs for dynamic allocation for when you have visitors or devices that won't play ...

Re: Unidentified flying objects on infrared
I have found that tiny specs on the lens can cause those kind of artifacts. They are out of focus and so appear to be a lot larger than they really are. Sometimes the specs are inside the camera. I get them on one camera only when the sun is in a certain position. Cleaning the exterior hasn't helped ...

Re: Adding first camera
By /dev/shm is empty do you mean it reads 0 or there is nothing there (blank) ? What does the df -h command show for /dev/shm? It should match ZM's web browser reading. The OS allocates one half of the machine's memory to /dev/shm. As far as I know top does not show /dev/shm. As an example, I am ...

Re: Adding first camera
I don't use the Record function, so can't help much. But as a swag, you might be running out of memory with only 2 gig of ram. What is your /dev/shm reading?
Any other applications running besides ZM and its dependencies?

Re: Newbie question first camera
This forum is really for questions about cameras and capture cards, not ZoneMInder itself. You should post this in Support under the correct subforum for whichever version of ZM that you are running, i.e., 1.34.x for the latest version. Otherwise, we don't know what kind of installation you have ...

Re: Debian Buster install procedure for Zoneminder 1.34.x
THANKS A lot for your clear instructions! Installed now on a RPI3b with nginx and ZM 1.34.0 works... Just a question: I see that on the repo there are all files for 1.34.2 but not .deb: is it intentionally missed or is it an error? A 1.34.2 deb recently became available for amd64. I suspect the PI ...

Re: Zoneminder /dev/shm: 100%
If you are asking if it possible to upgrade the memory in your NAS, you should post the model number and its currently installed RAM. As the owner of a couple of Synology boxes, I really don't believe they are suitable for use as a ZoneMinder server, especially if they are running a bunch of other ...

Polygons Must Not Intersect Error Doesn't Clear
I inadvertently created a zone that crossed itself, which of course resulted in a Polygons Must Not Intersect error. I immediately corrected the error by editing the relevant zone points to eliminate the crossing. However, ZM refused to let me save the corrected zone, insisting the error still ...

Re: IP Cameras: Ethernet vs WiFi
If you are going to use Besder cameras, please read about the company that actually makes them. https://krebsonsecurity.com/tag/besder/ WiFi range can be drastically affected by network congestion, which tends to be high in apartment buildings and crowded cities. It has gotten significantly worse of ...

Re: Setting static IP-address for Sricam SH0024
Sounds like a bug in the camera's software. Contacting them might help generate a bug fix. At least one of the developers has strongly suggested not using Wifi with ZM. For what it's worth, I initially set up ZM with a couple of Wifi equipped cameras. It worked but was hit up too much. I finally bit ...

Can you power it down and have it keep the IP if it is hooked up via Ethernet cable?

Re: Setting static IP-address for Sricam SH0024
Following the instructions on this page http://www.sricam.com/article/id/45f9ac ... 96797.html should work.
The company says that the cam will work with Blue Iris, so it should be compatible with ZM as far as I know. You did click on save I presume.

Re: Home alarm system
Commercial home security systems, as opposed to highly proprietary home owner grade systems that require same brand sensors, can always be triggered with a simple contact closure. The panel (alarm system speak for the brains of the system) can then programmed to do pretty much anything you want from ...

Re: Debian Buster install procedure for Zoneminder 1.34.x
Guys, I'm doing the best I can and trying to write procedures that anyone can follow. Yes, I forget things. When you are three score and thirteen you will forget things, too! And it is much appreciated. :D I have bad news for you though, it doesn't get any better up here north of your three score ...

Re: Debian Buster install procedure for Zoneminder 1.34.x
The update did not work for me. I tried installing 1.34 on a spare Debian 10 box running Sid. It has an i7 with 16 gigs of ram. It previously ran 1.32.3. Results of the 1.34 installation at the end of this post. I currently have 1.33.14 running on a similar Debian 10 installation without any ...
