Motion Cameras?
I highly recommend the dual core atom machines, you get can almost complete boxes that are smaller that some old style external cdroms and they draw very little power. Mine draws 30W or so running so certainly is a very nice option. Are you using an on-camera motion sensing with that hardware? No ...

Current tech solution...
I am moving into a new house which means a new surveillance setup. My current setup was a mix of wireless IP cams and wireless analog cams (will not make that mistake again). I know the Axis 207 now has on camera motion triggering, is this the current best solution for a low power (and low cpu ...

Been having the same problem...
I have 2 network cameras. One is a Airlink101 AIC250W (works flawlessly) and a TrendNet TV-IP400W which has the problem (about 20-100 times a day). I have the fps set to 5/10 for both cameras with the same setings on both. Tried everything I could think of, including isolating the TrendNet camera on ...

Easycap 2.0 USB device
Got the Easycap USB input and it turns out to not be supported by the default Linux kernel right now. I am going to look around and see if anyone has started writing a driver for it.

PTZ control functions causes the motion detection to record
I have a TrendNet IP-400W which has a PT (no zoom) that works fine in Zoneminder 1.22.3. Only issue is when I use the control page I would think it would momentarily pause (like 2 seconds or so) the motion detection so you would not get events from moving the camera (I am using the controls in ZM ...

After further research
I have one of the cameras hooked up to a Bt848 based card and as long as I leave ZM on "monitor" for that camera (which is all I want for it anyway) the system is perfectly stable (been up a for over a week without problems). I did not try putting heatsinks on the cards which might explain the ...

System stability
Does anyone using Brooktree based cards have a stable system? I can't seem to get my system to run more than a couple days before a kernel panic. I have tried BT849 cards, BT848, still get panic after a day or 2. Running Fedora 8 (it's fully updated) with ZM from rpm. I will see messages like this ...

5.8ghz wireless has downsides too!
Well after some time of playing with the wireless camera, it works pretty damn good... until I guess one of my neighbor starts using their phone. It goes crazy for about 10 seconds to almost 5 minutes creating tons of events. Then it will just clear up and return to normal. I have not been able to ...

Monitoring the garage
I have been using a fairly cheap 2.4ghz wireless camera with built-in infrared LEDs. It died on me, so I went online and picked up a 5.8ghz version of the same camera (unfortunately I discovered that 5.8ghz does not go through walls as well as 2.4ghz. The new camera has MUCH better night vision, but ...

Put money on the capture card!
Had a BT848 card in my machine that was causing lock-ups. I would see a kernel dump caused by it. You can test this theory by just disabling the camera and restarting ZM. You should see that the zmc /dev/video0 is not running. Also hooking a monitor up to it when it crashes and seeing what caused ...
