Hello Flash,
is highmem support in all newer kernel versions enabled (if so, i would simply choose the newest kernel) or where can I find out which kernel supports highmem?

Thanks!!

RAM upgrade - HIGH MEMORY SUPPORT on Debian

Hello, I have upgraded my ZM server from 512 MB to 2 GB of RAM. But Debian only recognizes 880 MB. As I read, It's a kernel related problem - I have to compile a kernel with High Memory Support. But now I found in /boot/config-2.6.8-3-386 this section: # # Firmware Drivers # CONFIG_EDD=m CONFIG ...

Because i am using only indoor cams i solved my problem:

I took some stripes of foil and sticked it on the window, so that the unintersting / public parts of the cam view are covered.

Not clean, but it works :-)

Hi James, the point is that the legal decision (at least in germany) doesn't allow saving the recordings of persons who are not informed about they are entereing a surveillanced area. Applying the filter on playback would be one step too late because the raw data contain the public area. Regards ...

Studying the law: covering image parts

Hello, i am dealing with the legal decisions (in Germany) which are important when installing cameras an saving the data. In our case, i can not avoid that my cameras record parts of a public street, too. The german law tells me that people have to be informed before they are in the camera's spot to ...

Thanks, that's the way I found it out. By the way you say "lovely interface":

Nice feature is the "script editor": you can edit files of the embedded linux. My cams are now able to syslog.... :D

Axis rules :-)

Hi James,
in zm i can define 24bit color / greyscale, thats clear.
But i did not find this setting in the webinterface of the cam.

Update: calling the URL

[IP]/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480&color=0

gives me a greyscale image.

Thanks!!!

Axis 205/206 greyscale image

Hello,
i am thinking of setting all my axis cams to greyscale, because it takes less CPU power.
But - it seems to me that i cant change from 24 bit color to greyscale? Does axis only support 24 bit color in model 205/206?
Thanks,
Simon

Thanks Phil, for your answer. That helps me a lot to understand. May I ask you another question according debugging? When I enable debug images, I see images generated labeled with "capture" (thats the original image, thats the easiest :-) ), "analyse", "diag14-1", "diag16-2", "diag16-3", "diag16-4 ...

Chain of Filters and Checks till a Alarm is generated!

Hello, i have two cams at the moment, which are very difficult to configure (heavy environment with reflections on cars, trees and so on). So I tried to figure out which steps are done in which order till a alarm is created. So I did: 1. Alarm Threshold: How much must a pixel differ from a reference ...
