Re: ZM DB question
Lots of questions... I recommend Mariadb. See here for install instructions on Debian 11: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Debian_11_Bullseye_with_Zoneminder_1.36.x Thanks for your reply, already tried 3 times, always gave an error mysql: unrecognized service , another user told me another post , will ...

Re: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1698] Access denied for user 'zmuser'@'localhost'
You can use EITHER MySQL or MariaDB. I use MariaDB with ZM. It’s thought to perform a bit better. Some of the MySQL commands work with MariaDB as they are very similar. It’s basically a drop in replacement. Thanks for your reply, it seems that I need to create zmuser & zm DB manually, for zmuser, do ...

Re: Debian 11 Install Issues
Tried using the official documentation and couldn't get zoneminder to load. I've posted this to the Wiki under the Discussion page. The Official Documentation should be updated. Install went really well once the Database issue was figured out. Just found this post, thanks for your tips, I'm in a ...

ZM DB question [SOLVED]
I had installed ZM 1.36X before my pc crashed without any problem, after re-installed new OS (MX Linux, Debian 11 based Linux), got an error when trying to re-start mysql service (service unrecognized error), here are my questions about DB in ZM: 1) why ZM has 2 DB > MySQL & MariaDB? 2) did not ...

Re: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1698] Access denied for user 'zmuser'@'localhost'
Sounds like DB is running. Cannot auth as ZM user/pass. That's the problem, I can't find the db named zm and user named zmuser, does ZM requires both MySQL AND MariaDB to work, or either one of them is enough? If zm and zmuser is in MySQL, what MariaDB is doing there? Can I install MySQL before ...

Re: New install mysql: unrecognized service
Is mysql/d even in /etc? If not, just reinstall it. I don't believe there will be any need to remove LA P. Further, I think the newest versions of ZM will install a DB if there is none found. Or so it seemed. Maybe just try remove ZM and let the .deb do its thing? Thanks for this information, it ...

SQLSTATE[HY000] [1698] Access denied for user 'zmuser'@'localhost' [SOLVED]

Re: ZM 1.36 & Annke cameras
I've got the 4k version, unfortunately it's not usable with my current setup. The live stream is very choppy and motion detection doesn't work at all. Reducing the resolution helps, but the idea of a 4k camera is to capture more data not less. For the time being I've put my back in the box. I also ...

Re: Is there a way to test my sw installation without cameras?
Yeah, with ffmpeg. I do it for a generated monitor that displays weather/alert data. Also to visualize audio from my lorex doorbell (been meaning to write a thread about that, alarms from audio are just crazy specific and has lots of use cases (just think, with zoneminder, how specific you can be ...

Re: Is there a way to test my sw installation without cameras?
You're welcome. I've not used any of them, so why don't you pick one and if it gives you problems, I'll test it here and let you know if it works, or doesn't? I have access to several droid and iOS devices. Thanks so much for your help, I'll give it a try, since I'm newbie (lot of reading to do ...
