shared memory
I have had multiple problems with shared memory and this is how I solved it. Do a basic calculation on your capturing (resolution X-axis) * (resolution Y-axis) * (Color Depth) = (aprox. Pic Size) example: 640*480*24=7372800 bits ~ 7MB (aprox. Pic Size) * (Image Buffer Size (frames) from your monitor ...

rpms for centos 4
you should find most rpms needed for ZM on
http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages.php
even 64bit. Just add the repository to your yum and you should be fine.
I have started building rpms for centos3 and 4 for 32bit but I haven't got around to making these things available on the forum.

Thanks for the reply
Thanks for the suggestion, I redefined the Zones so they are not right at the border of the frame.
Have to monitor the system for some days to see if it solves my problem.

workaround for windows users
If you need to run ZM on Windows box, one possible workaround is to run it on an VMware server which is available for free. Virtualization will of course cost you some extra resources, but for a start its a worth looking into.

32bit
If you don't plan to use more than 4GB, I would install 32bit, because you are not going to see a significant performance increase with 64bit.

ip or analog cameras
From my experience at the moment ZM still performs far better with analog cameras than with IP-Cameras. If you have the possibility from the installation point of view to use analog cameras a simple P4 (you might also get away with a fast P3) with a decent capture card and 512MB+ RAM should be able ...

From a dependency and compatability side I have had no problems with an AMD 64bit system with Redhat based distro like Fedora, Redhat Enterprise / CentOs. A very helpful repository is http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/packages.php I think that mainstream debian based distros like UBUNTU would ...

with the Dlink 900 Series you use the path
/video.cgi or /image.jpg
I am afraid that if this or something similar doesn't work, you're out of luck.
Unfortunatly most DLink Cameras will only work with IE and Active X

suggestions from our Network guys
Sorry guys we're talking about ca. 700 m 1. If you have line of sight then just use Directional Wireless LAN to bridge that distance. Yes you will still need to run a power cable. No easy solutions there. This is maybe not the most stable solution but certainly the cheapest. 2. from our ...
