Starlight Cameras vs IR Cameras
Hello everyone, I currently run a number of IR cameras in my ZM setup. I have found them to be only average at night, but excellent during the day. I was just wondering if anyone was using the cameras touted as Starlight Cameras that use frame accumulation (and probably lower shutter speeds) to ...

Thumbnail Summary of First Analyse Event
We have one camera that tends to capture a lot of false events due to its location. There's not a whole lot we can do about it (similar to LazyLeopard), so we just go thru the events during the day to make sure there are no REAL events in amongst the false alarms caused by clouds (in our case ...

Memory Issues?
I noticed in your original post that you had 1GB of memory on your machine, but only seemed to be mounting 500MB of swap. I could be wrong there. If it is the case, you might try upiing your swap partition to 2-3GB as a start, and then perhaps increasing shmmax depending on what its set at currently ...

What Version of ZM Are You Using?
A lot of my event frmes are just plain black when I view them, but have blobs marked on them I experienced a similar problem where at least the first alarm frame was black, but it happened sporadically. I was on version 1.19.1 at the time (using the LiveCD distro). I did an upgrade to 1.19.4 and ...

Script has been Fixed/Improved
Sorry for the last version of the script. The line that determined the oldest date from the database didnt work correctly (mysql returned the query line as well as the single line of data requested). Have fixed this by tailing the output of the SQL (per Victor's original script) and added ...

Possible Assistance
I have had problems with shadows/sunlight as well for exactly the same reasons as you...placing a camera to monitor a fairly large outdoor area. I have reduced my alarm count significantly by using adjoining inclusive zones with various sensitivities depending on what they are covering (a bush, the ...

Backing Up Your Zones
I started getting paranoid that I might have a disk crash and that I'd lose all of my zone settings. To this end, I wrote a small script (and cronned it) that produces a formatted Zone report so that all zones could be reconstructed if I had a disk crash (I know...why dont I just do backups/exports ...

GrandTec Grand X-Guard 4P card and ZM - Works Fine
I use the GrandTec Grand X-Guard 4P card with ZoneMinder. Absolutely no problems. Fully plug and pray with the OS - no device files to create etc. I get about 2.2fps per camera with all 4 ports are occupied. I'm using ZoneMinder LiveCD v1.19.1. I would definitely recommend this card, especially if ...

Assistance
Not sure if this is really the forum for this, but anyway, I've read both of your posts asking for assistance. I've sent you a private message but dont think it got thru. If you live in Australia (judging by the price you got the card for I'd say you might be in the US), I can give you some pointers ...

More Mods
UPDATE - Bug in SQL repaired 15/8/2004, more logging added Hi Victor...me again. Sorry to be modding your code again. Just a few bits and pieces to help it run a lil better. 1. I put in a counter in case the script goes into a loop. If the counter gets too high, the script will exit and log a ...

Suggested Modification
Hi Victor. Nice script. I'll be using it tonite :) You might consider making the following modification: Original freeamount=`df -m|grep "$partition"|cut -c 42-50|sed s/" "/""/g` Proposed freeamount=`df -m|grep "$partition"|awk '{ print $4 }'` That way, if the column positions change for the free ...
