Network camera software: Dorgem and Palantir
Greetings. I have ZoneMinder running on a recycled Linux laptop (Fedora Core 2 on a Dell Inspiron 4000). Since it has only one USB port and dicey support for the Philips webcam (Logitech Quickcam Zoom), I've put the cameras on Windows hardware and set ZM to pull images from them as "remote" sources ...

But you can still use the other computer...
You can put the MySQL database and even the 'events' directory on another computer if you have a good network connection. I've mounted a share on my Windows 2000 Pro machine once as my event directory; this provided a nice big 20GB partition to store images on. The ZM computer only had a 4GB drive ...

Update : seems to be working
It would appear the blend alarmed images checkbox is precisely what was needed to work around this issue.
Thanks for your help!

Checking... ZM_BLEND_ALARMED_IMAGES is not checked. ZM_FAST_IMAGE_BLENDS is checked. When I set this system up, I generally chose whichever options implied best performance, because the capture machine is a Celeron 400 with 128MB RAM. It runs relatively well, but the load average is around 0 ...

1.19.5 : stuck event, captures hundreds of no-motion frames
I've got a bit of a sticky bug: the capture seems to sometimes "stick" and create very long events, even when there's no substantial motion in the frames. This monitor is set to 5 FPS; everything else is set to defaults. To demonstrate, I took a set of analysis-marked frames and made an AVI of one ...

Montage does not obey FPS Report Interval
This might be a small bug in v1.19.4 : the montage view on my setup refreshes the FPS indicator frame every second, rather than every 10000ms (10 seconds). I have both video sources configured with a 10000 refresh interval. The source generated in that frame: <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet ...
