Turning off logging

Does anyone know how to turn off logging? I have zoneminder log to /tmp, but it also writes to the system logs which I see in /var/log/messages. I either need to figure out how to make zoneminder's system logs go to its own file or turn it off, but it makes /var/log/messages worthless to me.

PTZ Camera

I'm looking to buy a PTZ camera and wanted to go with Axis, but I can't cough up $1,500 for one single piece of my home security system. Does anyone have a favorite PTZ that is Zoneminder friendly and can be had for <$500?

Thanks in advance.

I've changed my DCS-900 setting to 640X480 and Zoneminder, and I still can't get that resolution. I just don't think the DCS-900 has real 640x480. But in my case it doesn't matter because this month is my year anni for running Zoneminder. One full year of security. So to celebrate I'm going to get a...

Yes, you can basically do anything using the Zoneminder filters. Only receiving notifications during certain hours isn't hard to set up at all.

With zmc started manually with debug level 4 and the rest of the processes started via the web gui here is an except from tail -f /tmp/*.log ==> zmdc.log <== 'zmc -m 1' stopping at 05/06/17 12:31:18 'zmc -m 1' died at 05/06/17 12:31:18 'zmc -m 1' started at 05/06/17 12:31:18 'zmc -m 1' starting at 0...

The original errors still happen, but that last log was just with the zmc running alone. I'm not sure how to run zmc in error mode and still run all the other processes? Do I manually start up zmc with the env set for debugging, and then start the other processes through the web gui?

Okay zmc -m 1 (my only monitor) at debug level 4 puts a fast stream of this into the zmcd.log file Jun 16 09:20:42 localhost zmc_m1[28486]: DB3 [Expecting 1460 bytes] Jun 16 09:20:42 localhost zmc_m1[28486]: DB3 [Read 1460 bytes] Jun 16 09:20:42 localhost zmc_m1[28486]: DB3 [Unable to extract subhea...

zmc -h doesn't show how to set the debug level and I didn't see it anywhere in the options of the application. How do I run zmc in a higher debug level?

After watching the logs scroll by for about 5 minutes I noticed this in /var/logs/messages, a continueing stream of these messages: Jun 15 20:02:40 localhost zmc_m1[17157]: ERR [Unable to extract HTTP status from header] Jun 15 20:02:41 localhost zmc_m1[17836]: ERR [Unable to extract HTTP status fro...

ZMDC restarting every 10 seconds

For some reason my capture dameon is restarting every 10 seconds. I just installed Fedora Core 4 and then installed 1.21.1. My network video capture is working correctly, but only updates once every 10 seconds. I installed 1.21.0 just for kicks and it works like a charm, so the problem is particular...

Okay, nevermind. The problem appeared to be a lack of patience. After turning off netpbm and messing with the jpg quality settings, the jpg quality settings eventually started having an effect. It took about an hour, but now the jpg quality settings have an instant effect on restart. I'm not even su...

On further messing around, I find I cannot resolve the problem. My normal 95% compressed jpegs are taking about 38K of space. Now that I've turned on netpbm (and then turned it off), I can't create jpegs of anymore quality than 3K, even though I've turned up the quality of files saved to disk to 100...

NetPBM sillyness

So I install netpbm and tell ZM that it is there. I notice a huge drop in bandwidth usage and the images become much more fuzzy. That's fine, and what I expected. But then I look at the actual images being stored to disk and see the netpbm option isn't just sending me low quality images, it is stori...
